gemabride:  I love that you also picked it On your own! I went with my family but it didn’t feel quite 100%. I went by myself about. Month later and I fell in love with one. Not so many opinions and I could find one that I loved.

Anyway! I would say show her as is. ik you’re excited to see its full potential but you have to get it cleaned before the wedding anyway!

i am not sure what to do with it until the wedding but I am interested to see what others say.

You look stunning! Best of luck!!

I would show her as is, especially since it’s mainly just wrinkles. That’s more like how it would be at a store probably anyways. A lot of the samples I tried on were just messes.

Don’t spend the money cleaning it now, just warn them before you come out that it is a little wrinkled but it’ll be perfect on the wedding day! They’ll understand….

As far as keeping it nice…… a preservation box wouldn’t be such a bad idea since you still have a year…. take it to the cleaners, they’ll clean it, preserve it and a week before the wedding, bring it back and have them steam it!

I don’t think it’d be worth paying to have it steamed and cleaned just to show them… you’ll probably want to have that done closer to the wedding?

My dress is just in it’s garment bag hanging in the closet. It should be fine.

gemabride:  I got my dress over a year ago and it has been fine hanging in a garmet bag in my closet.

gemabride:  No, don’t clean it or steam/press it until before the wedding/during alterations. It would be a waste of money and you’ll run the risk of ruining the fabric.

I had my dress in my closet almost a year before the wedding – the store I bought it from suggested that I keep the garment bag open about an inch at the top to let it breathe.  I’m not sure quite what that meant, but I did it and the dress was great when I took it out to have it altered about a month before the wedding.

I was going to say don’t steam it yourself, as many fabrics need to be treated differently, but it looks like you already came to that conclusion.

So I’ll just say.. wow, that dress looks stunning on you!

I used a shark steamer on my dress and it worked great. So if you have a home steamer, I would give it a go.
