- Wedding: August 2012
DH and I got married at the start of August, and we knew that we wanted to start a family right away. My opinion was we should start exactly that minute whereas he had ideas for later in September. I’ve known quite a few people (online and real life) who have been TTC for months, even years, and that it sometimes takes patience and a lot of hard work (charting, temping, maybe even drugs) to help. I convinced DH to start early, because I was honestly convinced it would take us a while to conceive. The average is 6 months for most couples, right?
So, I bought some OPKs and used some online trackers, and when O-time was on its way, we started to at it. We BD’d four days in a row leading up to O (CD13-16). I’m quite lucky that I get Mittelschmerz and the Positive OPK I got on CD15 was immediately followed by my O cramp on CD16. And then… the Dreaded Two Week Wait…
I have no patience, so honestly started testing on 6/7DPO before I realized I was being a nutter. DH at this time told me to relax “You’re totally preggers, test on Saturday”. I’m on record as having said that I didn’t feel pregnant at all, and that DH thought I was – he was even the one who told me to wait till Saturday to test.
On Wednesday (8DPO) I woke up in the middle of the day (I work nights) to an unholy cramp in my uterus. Almost like my Ovluation Cramp, but in the wrong place (DH, with his limited knowledge of female reproductive system even said ‘Oh, that’s just it Latching!’), but I had no implantation bleeding or spotting at all. Off and on since then I’ve had cramps, which is very, very out of character for me that far before AF is due. Looking back now, I realize that was also ravenously hungry on Thursday/Friday, to the point of stomach pain, every few hours. I’ve also had slightly sore boobs (which I always get with AF), but nothing else that could be considered a symptom.
Even now, it’s amazing to me how much I feel like I’m about to get AF any second. The tightness in my lower abdomen, the bloating feeling, and even the cramps. Only now, when I pee on a stick, two lines show up!
I know that DH and I are so, very, very lucky. To all those ladies out there who have been working at this for months and years, you have all of my well wishes, and all the spare baby dust I can manage!
