Long story short, I feel like after nearly 8 years, the romance has petered out of my relationship. I keep waiting for him to surprise me with an ultimate romantic gesture fest. I’ve been waiting for months, so I’m taking matters into my own hands. After months of waiting and feeling vulnerable, I must say, I feel giddy at being in control of tonight.
1. Engagement Chicken (putting it in the oven in an hour or so!)
2. White Wine
4. Covering Up the TV (so we actually TALK and don’t watch it!)
5. Making the 52 Thing I Love About You card deck thing (okay, you can now call me cheesy).
7. Love songs on in the background
I’ve never done anything in the realm of romantic for him (seriously, in 8 years. poor guy!). I shamefully only realized this yesterday. My idea of romance is buying him dinner and taking him to an action movie. I think he’ll appreciate this change of pace.
Since we’re already at the point of a. yes we want to get married and b. he wants it to be a surprise, I don’t expect this to speed up the proposal moment. I just hope it leads to us having good conversation and a happy memory.
Any other ideas how I can make tonight a tip top romantic Tuesday?!

Great idea, men aren’t the only ones that need to give us women the romantic gestures.

This is exciting 🙂 I find while having romantic dinners now that we have been together for a while that talking about then we first met and started dating, how jittery the first date was ect. ALWAYS gets my heart beating faster again and it reconnects you to those fun and exciting times.
He will absolutely be surprised and delighted that you did something so thoughtful for him! Have fun!

Thats sweet!! I’m sure he will love it. I made dinner for my guy last night with flowers on the table, a cold beer ready for him a card and a nice little gift. OH and a cake with a candle in it.
We weren’t celebrating anything big, but he appreciated it alot. And he said since it wasn’t a day we would normally celebrate, it really surprised him and he liked it.
Good luck!!! Its amazing we expect all this romance from them and never think to return it!!

I love it when chicks are in charge of the romance!

So sweet and you are right, why do we have to wait for the guys to make the romantic moves when we are very well equipted to do it and probablly better at it. hehe
Now my question is, what is this engagement chicken I keep reading about?

I also like to wear an apron while I am in the kitchen.

FYI, not sure if I did something wrong, but when I followed the exact recipe of the engagement chicken it turned out really good but Sour! lol You’re probably a good cook after 8 years with a guy haha but watch out for that lol
And most importantly have fun!
I had a weekned like this where I got sick of waiting for my SO do something nice so I made him dinner 2 nights in a row. Only it was kind of stressful because I’m a perfectionist and he was in the way lol
So relax, and remember throughout why you’re doing it =]
