We’ve finally narrowed it down to these two locations, but we just CAN’T decide!!
We’d be spending about the same at both locations.
The flight to Maui would be a LOT short (isn’t it awful that this is the only “pro” we can think of!?).
How do we decide?

I’ve been to both Belize and Maui and loved them both! We just got back from Belize for our honeymoon. The good news is that you really can’t go wrong either place! It really depends on what you guys like doing, where you should go. Maui has amazing beaches and great snorkeling (as long as you go in the summer). Belize is cheaper, has great snorkeling, great adventure activites, but no great beaches (b/c the reef breaks up the waves).
Check out my blog to see all my posts on Belize (http://www.runninglawyer.blogspot.com). I have about 8 posts on all the stuff we did there! And feel free to message me if you have questions.

It’s funny that you should say the only difference is the travel time- that was a HUGE factor in our decision of where to go! We just want to get to our honeymoon as fast as possible.
So for that reason I’m going to vote for Maui. (Although I should say I’ve never been to either place.)

Hi there, I’ve been to both and they are both beautiful. It’s completely up to you as previously mentioned…but since you asked..we had a great time in Belize. We stayed at Victoria House on Ambergris Caye (totally recommend it) and I thought it was a great choice because we had A LOT of privacy…we had our own bungalow, usually had the beach to ourselves (tanning/lounging, no real swimming spots..more like wading), took a private sailboat to go snorkling (and it didn’t cost any extra than the group excursion boats). In Belize we also had the chance to stay at Cahal Pech and do all the adventure stuff..temples in Guatamala and cave exploring. That being said, I liked snorking and swimming in Maui a little better and Maui may also have more dining options, but I feel like it’s a little bit more crowded with tourists. In Belize we pretty much ate at the hotel restaurant in the evenings because it was just easier to stay on the hotel grounds (plus we were in a lazy phase). Also Belize it a little bit more rugged, dirt roads at times and mosquitos. Just some thoughts. Good luck!

I have never been to Belize, but we went to Maui for our honeymoon and loved it. We can’t wait to go back there someday and to see the other hawaiian islands that we didnt see the first time around. I would highly recommend Maui. Especially the Hana area if all you want to do is escape and be in total relaxation.
