I made the envelope liners for my invites (which are very classic, but boring–what I wanted). I’m thinking about using the same paper I used for the liners (wrapping paper from the Container Store) to cut 1.5″ strips to make belly bands. Would it look weird to use wax seals to “fasten” the the two ends of the belly band? I’d make the seals and then glue them on.

I don’t think so, I think it will look awesome! I am actually considering a fabric belly band versus a ribbon one and doing something very similar to them. The only thing that I suggest is to practice with the wax seals…

I don’t think it would look weird (though it may depend on the pattern of your paper), and I think it would be a nice touch!

@crebre–are you going to treat the fabric to keep it from raveling?

I think that’s cool! I love the look of the wax seals. Just make sure your invites aren’t going out during a really hot time, because wax seals can melt and make a total mess in mailboxes!
@cre if you do fabric I think you can get that iron-on fusing that will prevent it from coming apart… any sort of interfacing should do!

@labor–thanks for the tip. I think I’m going to be sending them out next week, so it shouldn’t be too hot yet. I had considered using the glue faux wax (cheaper but didn’t like the color options), but decided to go with the real thing.
