I’m 33 weeks now and little girl feels like she’s moved down quite a bit during the last week. I had a doctors appointment this morning and he kinda said yup, it happens, feels like she’s head down. But ‘it happens’ was about all the info I could get so I was wondering . . .
if your baby dropped early (and I don’t know that’s she’s all the way dropped just a lot farther down than she was) if they still rotated or moved back up.
Also, did your belly drop slow over time or did it happen all of a sudden?
Ive read that it can happen pretty early with your first but some of the websites say to expect labor within 4 weeks (the dr today didn’t seem to suggest that would happen though), how soon after belly dropped did you go into labor?

I carried fairly high and it was hugely obvious when she dropped. It was on NYE and was very sudden. I didn’t realize what it was until the next day, though–just that I felt completely different. She was born one day prior to her due date on Jan 24 (first baby).

I’m due in two weeks and while the baby has been head down since 32w, and people have remarked that it looks like I’m “carrying low,” he still hasn’t actually “dropped” yet. Drives me nuts- I am ready to get this show on the road!
I have been reading up on it and it sounds like there are folks whose babies don’t drop till right before, or even during, labor.
At our 32w ultrasound, the tech said that once they are head down, they tend to stay that way. It’s possible they can switch, but she said it’s super unlikely.

I’ll be 38 weeks tomorrow and I feel like mine has been more of a slow drop over a few weeks. He’s been head down since around 32 weeks and I can feel him moving around a lot lower than he used to, but I’m not sure I really notice a difference in the way my belly looks.
I will say that my doula said that she dropped “early” around 33 or 34 weeks and the women in her office would comment, “oh, you’re going to have that baby any day now!” and she didn’t end up having her son until 40 weeks.

@lozza I hear ya! I’m due in 3 weeks and although she is head down and has been for weeks she hasn’t dropped at all! I think it will be VERY obvious when and if she does since I’m carrying her very high

I was already carrying her low, or at least that’s what other women told me, it’s my first so I have no idea. But I’ve had a bit less heartburn and had to pee more and it just feels different. Like my husband had said I had such a nice walk for a pregnant lady and now I feel a bit more like a waddler. Her punches are also so much lower than they were, I think she was hanging out sideways for awhile but now her punches are around or a bit below the top of my pelvis and her kicks are a bit above my belly button. I think she still might have a bit to move down though before she’s considered ‘dropped’ but I have no idea, all the ob said was yup she’s down there. I got distracted though from asking questions because we listened to her heart right after that and she was obviously a bit pissed/excited from being manhandled and was kicking/thrashing around while he was trying to get her heartrate.

I’m due in exactly 3 weeks and while he is head down, I don’t feel that he’s dropped even though some of those around me keeps saying it looks like it.
