I had mine in for a long time, then took it out during my wedding planning because you could see the balls through my dress! During my first pregnancy, my belly stretched so far (I was 52″ around) and the hole was stretched SO far. It still looks gross and stretched out. 🙁

I have mine pierced too, I’m a bigger girl. I’ve had it since I was 17 just because I wanted it.  I haven’t had the heart to take it out yet, but as soon as my clothes don’t fit it will come out.

@harperlynn:  I got my belly button pierced when I was 18.  I had my oldest at 21 and the only reason I took it out was because my naval stretched during the pregnancy and it HURT.  I took it out when I was about 5 months pregnant and had to repierce it to get it back in.  When I was pregnant with my twins at 24 I kept it in without issues.  I’m 32 now and still wear it.  I don’t think it matters if your a mom or not, if you like it keep it in.  I’ve known Grandmothers to pierce their nose AND naval.  Its a personal decision and a way to express yourself.  Who cares if people think just because your a mom its trashy now.  Its not.  When I’m in my 60’s I might think otherwise about my belly button piercing but for now I’m keeping it.

@NurseMandie:  Agreed.  I’m 26 and I’ve had mine pierced since I was 15.  It’s something for me that I like.  How is it any different than a nose stud or monroe or something?

I’m not a mom yet and will take it out during pregnancy if needed, but I don’t think one needs to just because they are now a mom.  Man – people are judgemental today.

Oh – and I’ve spent tons of time playing with infants and little kids and it has never once even been pulled on.  Little kids aren’t going to rip it out.

I am 35 and have had mine since I was 16- do the math- more years with it than without it.  At 35 I don’t go baring my midriff for people and the belly piercing was always more for me than for other people anyway.  I am 39 weeks and haven’t taken mine out. I purchased a flexible plastic slightly longer one for pregnancy and it has worked great. The hole hasn’t really stretched at all.  Who gives a sh!t what others think. If you like it keep it in. If you got it pierced for reasons that are no longer valid to you in how you envision your role as a mom take it out.

I’m almost 16 weeks pregnant and took mine out last night since it started to get uncomfortable. I’m putting lotion on my belly like 4-5 times a day, and it got in the way too.

I got it pierced on my 18th birthday and I’m 25 now, I’ve never had it out for more than a few minutes before this! I think it looks so weird now, hopefully the holes don’t shift too much!

@Mrs.KMM:  Mine has never been pulled out either. Not even close to being pulled out.  I grew up with dozens of younger cousins, babysitting neighbors, and my own children and its just been fine.  A belly button ring is actually less like to be pulled out than any other piercing because you have clothes between you and the child.  Like I said the ONLY time I’ve ever had an issue with it was when I was pregnant with my first child.  I actually thought it was infected at one point because it hurt so bad but it was just because of the stretching.  Once I took it out the pain went away immediately.

Other than stretch marks on my belly it pretty much looks the same.  I don’t really care what people think though.  I think my body is absolutely beautiful because I’ve had a baby grow inside of me.  I wear my marks with pride.  Besides the only time my naval ring is visible to outsiders is during the summer when I wear my bikini.

@moniquaa:  I didn’t have any issues with shifting when I put mine back in.  My hole healed though and I had to repierce it after I had Baby G (my oldest).  When I had my twins my ring was fine.  I had the piercer use the same holes even though it went through scar tissue because I didn’t want it to look weird and OMG did that hurt but I’m glad I did because you can’t tell I had to repierce it.

I’ve had mine since I was like 16 and I honestly forget it’s there sometimes. Odds are I’ll take it out when I get pregnant and just leave it out…

I took mine out, but because it was poking through my shirts and looking strange.  I would have left it in the whole time (or as long as I could) otherwise.

I got my belly button peirced at 15 and by the time I was 22 I felt like it was juvenile and I didn’t need to be putting my body on display liek that anymore.  I have thought abotu putting it back in a few times.  Last summer  I even bought a belly ring at the shore and wore it for a day or two ( Yes it actually went in without much struggle after having been out for a few years).  I think it’s a dated trend and it’s not tasteful in my opinion anymore as I get older.
