I took mine out at 3 months and my hole never closed up (I had it pierced years prior). I poked the barbell through with a little vaseline 2-3 times throughout the pregnancy just to see if it would still fit in and it always slid in easily. My hole wasn’t very noticable, even at 9 months. It looked a little stretched out, but otherwise pretty normal.

I decided to leave my belly ring in and just see how it went. Since I never got to the point of having an outtie it staying through the entire pregnancy. For some reason I thought they make me take it out during delivery – but they didn’t.
As my belly grew I did change the jewelry twice. Our local tattoo shop cut me some lenths of teflon (I think?? thick bendable plastic? The balls just screwed onto the ends of it) to use as I needed them.
Here are some photos….. sorry they aren’t all great – but you should get the idea of what it looked like before and after. (they weren’t taken for this purpose)
Before (5 weeks)
During (37 weeks) – it did show through my shirts – I didn’t care.
After (2 mo PP) – you can see it sits sideways now – not sure if that will change as my belly firms up??

OH MY GOSH. I had a belly ring like 10 years ago for maybe a week….and the hole is still there. When I got preggo, it got SO BIG. After baby, the hole is huge, and the skin between the bely button and the hole is so saggy and gross. It looks like a skin tag. I have zero stretch marks, but I’ll never wear a bikini again because of the nasty belly button.

@MightySapphire: I have only one teeny tiny stretch mark and it’s one little line between the scar and the belly button. I think it’s adorable and I feel so lucky to only have that one little souvenir on my belly 🙂

I took mine out at about 5 months. It got a bit stretched out and looked like a dark scar between my hole and belly button, but I gained about 60 lbs (stinking ice cream cravings and Cold Stone). Almost 5 years later there is still a faint scar in between, it’s closed inside my belly button, but the hole is now a slit where it was on the outside.

Still thinking about it. I do not want to take mine out. I’ve been looking at some sites
little feet! (they do pink and blue)
and some other ones.
Anyone else going the PTFE route?
