Hello Bees! I am in need of some advice please!
Do any of you have experience with Berta Bridal dresses? I recently purchased a used berta dress 14-20 size EU 36. I have not recieved it in the mail yet so I have yet to try it on. I had gone to a bridal botique and tried on the exact same dress in size EU 38. They recommended I size down one or two sizes and then alter from there. One size down from EU38 is the EU 36 (the smallest size.) I purchased the dress from a girl who said she ordered the dress in size EU 36 and did not need to alter the dress once she received it, since it fit her perfectly (just altered the length). However, my concern is are these dresses “made to order” as in, do they take the measurements of the girl then make the dress according to her personal measurements? Or do they produce the dress in a standard EU 36 size and send the dress back to the botique where the botique is in charge of altering the dress to fit the size of the girl? Since I was advised to get a size 36, I wasn’t worried when I purchased the dress. Then I changed the original owner’s cm body measurements to inches and I’m a bit bigger than she is.
I had asked her if any alterations were done and she basically said that when she received the dress, it fit her perfectly so she only had to alter the length. She sent me her measurements and I am a tad bit bigger (1/4th of an inch or so) than she was. However, I ended up buying the dress bc of the suggestion at the store that I size down one or two sizes, since the EU 38 was much too big on me. This is the type of dress that has a lot of delicate lace, beading, mesh and certain structure that would be changed if I were to buy a dress 2 sizes too large and alter it down. Basically, I ended up not getting a 38 because I was afraid it would change the look of the dress with major alterations.
Hope you guys can help! I’m feeling anxious because it is a large amount of money to spend on a dress that may or may not fit!
