Video games (Skyrim mostly at the moment)

 

Dresses (I have comically large boobs and always thought I couldn’t wear dresses until I learned to dress for my shape. I designed my own wedding dress) 

 

Make-up – I used to have a make-up/cosmetic blog with my bff. We have similar colouring and find it hard to find foundation pale enough so we reviewed cosmetics. I need to finish it off one day, I started taking photis to show and review all my lipsticks (about 100) but life got in the way. I try to use ethical products a lot too. 

 

Animals – I have an aquarium and a cat (who hates me, though I adore him. He only likes men)   I sponsor animal charities and try to help in the short term with funding and in the long term through my teaching. 

 

Philosophy – I studied Philosophy in my undergrad degree and took extra classes in theology, law, politics and psychology. I identify more with Buddhism than any other belief system because it’s largely how I live my life anyway (Vegetarian, honesty, ethics, integrity, dedication, charity etc) I try to emulate that into my teaching without pushing my beliefs onto the children, by encouraging them to think about good choices and make good choices all of the time. My class are aged 3 and 4. 

 

Teaching – teaching is and has always been my passion. I work 50-72 hours a week normally, a lot of that is unpaid overtime. I try to create a loving nurturing environment where questioning is valued and kindness and gentleness is the norm. I’d like to think my children are truly happy to learn with me, that would make me happy. My bff calls me “Miss Honey” from Matilda.

Lately you can find me either reading, taking a jog, or watching Breaking Bad. My fiance and I have been trying to get caught up on BB so we can watch the new season with everyone else. We are currently on season 5 episode 5, so we are very very close!

As for reading, I am in a YA book club that meets monthly. This month’s book was Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell and it was so wonderful. And for my personal reading, I am currently reading ‘The Diviners’ by Libba Bray. It’s a little long, but I have been enjoying the atmosphere of the 1920’s, even if the book does have to do with creepy murders.

Writing and reading are my life!!!  My blog is my baby. 🙂  I’m also dabbling in vlogs now, too.  Besides that, food is my big love.  I’ll take myself to different neighbourhoods and go bakery-hopping, or I’ll pick out 2-3 eateries in a borough and make a day of it…it makes me so happy! ^.^  And then I go home and write about it. 😛

@GelaMac:  I read!!! My DH calls my Kindle Fire my boyfriend. 😛

I also learned how to crochet and I do that usually in the winter – I’m too hot natured to have that yarn on me in the summer in the south!

 

(random fact: I have NEVER owned a “name brand” purse OR pair of shoes!)

@GelaMac:  I’m addicted to shoes and have been since I was 10. I bought my first pair of Choos at 16 (just!) and now own about 12,000 USD worth of designer shoes including Choos, Loubs and Ginas (don’t think they’re known in the USA but they’re the equivalent of Choos/Loubs), among others. I adore them and keep them boxed and everything lol

ETA: I also love travel; I try to go abroad 3 times a year, and love researching hotels etc.

@Anardana:  Awww the “Miss Honey” comparison is adorable! I’m a teacher too, but high school. SO much unpaid work, I feel you!

@lulu_honey:  OMG I need to find a YA book club in my area. Talking to my students about books is not always utterly fulfilling, lol. Most people think it’s kind of funny that I have an MA in literature but I LOVE books meant for teenagers. I see no contradiction 😉

 

I love writing too, if I ever publish something it’ll be a YA novel for sure!

 

My hobby which most people don’t expect of me is martial arts – because I look like a skinny little girl, which i am, lol. I studied Sikaran karate for 10 years and got my black belt at the end of high school, but in the years since then I’ve kept it up really casually just for fitness. I’ve also tried and liked TKD and Muay Thai. I’ve wanted to try fencing for ages but in university the practices were always on the day I had some other club meeting, sigh.
