I would not use liquid glue.

The scrapbooker dot tapes are typically pretty good – they don’t distort the paper and stick very well.  Something like one of these:

    Xyron Mega Runner

    Dotto Adhesive Refill

I know a lot of people advise agains liquid glues, but I used tacky glue because I already had it.  I didn’t have problems with my invites distorting or anything because I used very little, and printed on heavy paper/cardstock.  If you don’t mind spending the extra money, double sided tape is amazing for paper product assembly.  I’ve had good experiences with glue dots too.

@housebee:  I don’t recommend liquid glue because application needs to be very precise in placement and amount.  You must be very good with it! 🙂

Double-sided tape works well but I hate that it sticks to fingers and can get twisted in application; I wouldn’t say it’s particularly forgiving for mistakes.  I love the taped glue dots because you can place them precisely but you don’t have to worry about getting the stickiness on you.  They are typically pressure-sensitive, so you can place a card and move it around a little before having to commit.  From my perspective, they just seem to be the easiest to work with to have very consistent results.  On the bad side, they were typically pricier than glue or double-sided tape.

@Anise:  I agree about the liquid glue being much more difficult.  I just recently discovered glue dots, and all I could think was, “where were you when I was making invites?!?!?!?!?” LOL

I love the Scotch tape glider.  I got it yesterday from Amazon and used it to do my invites and it works wonderfully.  I have used liquid glue in the past but it warps the paper and looks terrible.  I will never use anything else again for cards now that I have the tape glider.

I used permanent spray adhesive and it worked wonderfully. Though you would need to be very careful in placement, there isn’t much room for readjustment.

The tape gun is the best! Used it for my pocketfold invitations, my programs and my table numbers. I got 2 at Michaels (yay coupons) and it was super easy and fast to use.  Even my non-crafty groomsmen were able to work it. Although I suggest looking at the Youtube videos on how to replace the tape =)

Oh and it’s pretty thin – my programs were nice white printer paper on cardstock and you couldn’t see/feel the tape behind it.

get the scotch tape glider. i got one and its awesome. i’m gluing my invites into a pocketfold also and you need something with continuous, dry coverage and the tape glider is perfect for that. i did lots of research on scrapbooking and DIY blogs and that’s what most of them recommended.

@PrincessBride27:  not chunky AT ALL. my invites are basic card stock and even in the places where i got awkward and bunched it up you couldnt feel it.
