I bought my dress in another state because nowhere here sells the dress or designer I wanted. I went and picked it up and had to fly home with it on 2 different airlines: southwest and alaska air. Southwest doesn’t have a cubby or closet for the dress and made me put it in an overhead bin, the flight attendant did not help me as I struggled to get my heavy ballgown up into the bin, and they said that just because my dress was in there I couldn’t prevent other passengers from shoving their luggage into the bin with/on top of my dress!
Alaska air has a small closet about 2 feet high and I had to fold my dress over twice to get it to fit into their closet. When I asked the flight attendant as I boarded where their closet was, she didn’t even look at me and waved her hand toward their closet and said “its over there”
Please tell me there are better airlines out there! Can anyone give any advice?

I’m pretty sure that airlines are universally terrible.

@auroraborealis: buy a seat for it. Kidding! I would think there would be a small closet somewhere on any airline. I think airlines have just gotten worse in general over the years. Best of luck, I hope you find a good solution!

We flew to Jamaica for our Destination Wedding on US Air and I didnt have any problems with my dress, but I did travel with it in a garmet bag and my dress was folded in half and then placed up in the overhead storage. We couldnt fly first class down as it was super expensive. But when we checked ourselves in online the day before our flight, I purchased us “front-of-the-line” boarding passes for $10 each, which meant that we could board after first class and before coach and that ensured us that we had room in the overhead storgae before everyone else boarded and took our overhead storgae space. There was no way that I was checking my dress and thankfully I didnt have too.

I flew jet blue with my dress and they also do not have a closet. The flight attendants were very rude and didn’t help me at all. I had to lay my dress over other peoples luggage in an overhead bin. My dress ended up being fine but I was on my way to my wedding and would not have had any time to steam it again.
