We stayed at the Rui Las Americas and it was AMAZING. All the Rui hotels in Cancun are great from what I hear from my mother in law who goes to Cancun every year. The Rui Cancun is a younger crowd and alot more partying. I was 25 when I got married but that hotel was a bit too much. I wanted something relaxing and the Las Americas was the best of both worlds. Plus you can go and eat and drink at any other Rui hotel.

gpsp2B:  In my experience (I lived and worked in Cancun for 2 years) the vast majority of hotels in Cancun are all inclusive. I’ve also been as a tourist many times and have always enjoyed the nightlife. Most hotels in Cancun actually have a terrible nightlife because everyone just goes out to the clubs. Most hotels have an entertainment team which will bring guests to club and arrange for bottle service (my old job). I think that all inclusive in Cancun is the way to go!

As I said, I worked in cancun and used to work as a travel agent. The best hotel, by far, that I’ve ever been to is Secrets The Vine in Cancun. That’s also where we’re getting married : ) It’s modern, hip, adults only, has amazing food and great service. The price can be a bit steep but it would be worth having a look.

I second Live Aqua Cancun as a pp suggested!

Excellence resorts are the best in my book.

Either of the Excellence resorts are a definite!  We have been to Excellence Riviera Cancun 4 times and we honeymooned at Excellence Playa Mujeres, only because we wanted something slightly different.   I would say the only difference is Playa Mujeres has a better beach and its about an hour from the airport, compared to about 20 minutes to Riviera Cancun.   They are both fab resorts!

We were engaged at Moon Palace- we didn’t have the fanciest room and still had a jacuzzi tub in our room.  They had CHI blow dryers and straighteners and they have people to help you book excursions.  There is also a spa and gold course and the pools are fabulous- they have a lot more room there than the hotels on the strip of Cancun.  They have a special honeymoon dinner on the beach or in a gazebo that is 5 courses and top notch.  Plus they usually have specials so you get resort credits to use on whatever you want (we used ours on a photoshoot and I got some jewelry).

I stayed at Excellence Riviera Cancun last year and loved it. The cost was $2400 for 4 nights flying from the midwest. We picked the resort because of the activities and I wasn’t disappointed. We did yoga on the beach, played tennis, went kayaking in the ocean and attended a few of the nightly shows. I can only spend a limited time just laying out so I appreciated that there were other options. We upgraded to ocean view, which was definitely worth it to me. This Excellence resort it somewhat outside of the Cancun strip, but that’s not really my thing so I didn’t mind. I would definitely recommend it!

We also spent our honeymoon at Excellence Riviera Cancun and it was wonderful! We did not take part in the ‘cancun night life’ in fact we spent the entire time at the resort – we considered leaving for excursions but ended up doing a couples massage at the resort instead. The ocean is swimable – maybe not the best but we were for sure out there, we are not ocean people so we opted to stay by the pool mainly but swam in the ocean on 2 of our 7 days there. Food was great, and everything was very clean 🙂

We stayed at ME in Cancun for our honeymoon, as well as spending a few days in Playa Del Carmen.  ME had a fabulous barefoot dinner on the beach and the food is really good!  I recommend getting one of the higher level rooms, I can’t remember what it’s called, but you get the barefoot dinner on the beach ( a 5 course meal), massage, and top shelf liquor.  We loved the beach at ME!  you’re close anywhere in Cancun to do excursions.  We love Playa Del Carmen a lot, so if you’re looking for a fun day trip, head to Playa!
