Hey Yall! I’ve been trying to plan a trip with another couple for a few weeks now. We’ve already crossed cruises and beach houses off the list and I think we are going to go for All Inclusive In Punta Cana? trying to keep it around 2500 per couple.
I tend to drown myself in reviews and look at so many different resorts i can barely remember which one is which. It’s like the honeymoon all over again! haha
I was looking at the Barcelo Bavaro beach – has anyone been? any other suggestions for good all inclusive resorts?

Hi!! People either love or hate Punta Cana. I am one of those people who hate it lol. I’ve been there and while you can not expect food like home in the caribbean, the food there is almost inedible. Beaches are beautiful though. In my opinion if you want to keep it at $2,500 per couple try Couples Negril or look at Bucuti in Aruba. They are both amazing. I also got very sick from the food in Punta Cana, so maybe thats part of why it isnt one of my favorite places, but some of my friends love it! Also I know you said you crossed cruises off your list, but I just got back from a cruise on the Carnival Dream ship in September and it was very very resonably priced. We flew into orlando a day early and spent the day at the magic kingdom then headed down to the cruise port. Another beautiful resort is Melia Cabo or the Riu Cabo…incredible.. Food was also amazing at all three of these resorts. If you decide to go with any of them let me know and I can suggest a bunch of stuff to do!!! I am actually in the middle of planning my hoenymoon and we are doing disney for a week (we love it there lol) and the Bucuti resort in Aruba for the second week. Good Luck and have fun planning your vacation!!!!

@totheislnds: I stayed at the IFA villas bavaro. It was a great all inclusive..you have the option to stay in your own bungalow or more of a hotel type resort. They keep you entertained nightly with the shows and the pools are really nice.
I’m not sure if this is the same chain, but I stayed at the Barcelo Maya in the riviera maya. Let me tell you, this was one of the best all inclusives I have been to (and i’ve been to a lot!). It was about 2 years old at the time so that may be why. I don’t think you will end up making a bad decision. Those resorts are all very similar

@JenniferD: Thanks so much for the input! I’ve heard that about the food in Punta Cana actually and i’ve been a little nervous about going there but the beaches just look AMAZING! We went to Couples Swept Away on our honeymoon and honestly i’m straight up spoiled – no resort i’ve looked at so far even compares but we spent double our current budget on that trip (so worth it!). I’m going to check pricing on Couples Negril because i’ve been drying to go back to Jamaica. I’m also going to check out the Aruba resort, i’ve never really considered Aruba but you have opened my eyes. I love cruises – i’ve been on a few carnival cruises as well and they are tons of fun but i guess i’m dreaming of a really relaxing vaction. the only thing that is currently turning me off on cruises is the schedule. you know, having to get up at 7 to get off the boat, can’t drink too much on shore to make sure you make it back on the boat at 3 haha you know what i mean? I have loved every single cruise i’ve been on and would do it again but i’m dreaming of sleeping in and lounging on a beach all day.
Thank you so much for the recommendations! i’m going to check them all out now. Good luck planning your honeymoon!
P.S. I’ve been wanting to take my husband to disney forever! he has never been and i havent been since grade school.

@MlleBrielle: I came across that resort in my search last night and some of the tripadvisor reviews scared me but i should seriously know by now not to read reviews or take them too seriously. People usually only write reviews when they have something to complain about. I’m glad you liked it! i’m totally turned onto the idea of bungalows! i’m going to check it out again. I def think Barcelo is a chain and i’m not against Riviera Maya either. Adding it to the list! thanks.

I’m actually getting married in Punta Cana in October. We’re getting married at the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort. I have yet to do a site inspection, but my brother travels a lot to Punta Cana and visited the resort and took video. It was BEAUTIFUL! They have the newest part of the hotel called the Reserve which the rooms are supposed to be amazing. I was also told it gets really good in the hotel if you and your friends want to party it up!
There is also Paradisus Palma Real which is newer than Paradisus Punta Cana, and I’ve read its AMAZING!My borther also visited Palma Real and was blown away!
They are both all inclusive. So you will all be able to eat and drink like crazy!
Hope this helps!

@totheislnds: Good thinking! People pick silly things to complain about. Good luck with your search!

I love Punta Cana so much that we are going for our honeymoon. I went in may of 2010 and I had a ball!!! We stayed at gran Bahia principe Esmeralda. It was gorgeous, the food was ok but I’m picky and hard to please. I didnt get sick, neither did anyone I wenT with. Things are made differently though, the water is different so of course some people bodies can’t take it. We are going to Majestic Elegance in May and I can’t wait!!

I’ve stayed at the Grand Palladium Palace and it was great! The food wasn’t legendary but nothing unedible. We found a restaurant on the resort that we loved and stuck with it, plus the buffets have variety. The beaches are amazing, I definitely cannot wait to go back.

I’ve stayed at the Excellence Restort in Punta Cana.
I really liked it, but if you plan to swim in the ocean, the location isn’t great. When we were there the waves were really rough.
They had like 7 restaurants though and I really liked most of them. We also got room service a few times which was nice.
Our room was a swim up room by a pool and we had a jaccuzi in the room. No complaints about the room.
They have little shows everynight and do little activities throughout the day but none of the activities seemed very popular. Our stay included a free 30 minute horseback ride down the beach which was also pretty cool.
