@MrsB-to-Be: I totally agree with you. I was originally going to have their roles in my wedding embroidered on their robes but, then I thought, why would they want to walk around their house in a robe that says “Maid of Honor” (or “Bridesmaid” or “Flower Girl”) so I went with their names instead. And even thought the wine glasses I am getting them are very “wedding themed” I am not having their roles or my wedding date painted on them.

I’m totally a DIYer, so I bought some wine glasses and glass etching cream. I’ll etch their initals in them. I’m still not sure what I’m going to get my fiance’s sister though because she’s underage.

@aheavel: I think that’s great!  I mean I am probably going to have some “wedding themed” things but after that one wedding were I literally have maybe worn that shirt twice since her wedding I decided I definitely didn’t want to something like that for my girls.  Good luck!  I’m sure that they’ll love no matter what you give them!!

@ccd0: I don’t know if you’re wanting it to be like uber nice since you’re doing the wine glasses but what about maybe a cute coffee mug and she could use it for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate or give her a monogrammed cup like a Tervis that she could use.  I know that doesn’t necessarily fit with the wine glass theme and be “as nice” but it sticks with the drink theme and if you don’t make it a big difference maybe it won’t be.  Good luck 🙂

So far I’ve gotten them each a bracelet to wear for the wedding and a friend of mine who makes jewelry is making them each a necklace to go with their bracelet. Other than that I was just gonna pay for their hair or makeup.

I’ve never been a Bridesmaid or Best Man before but I’m getting my girls:  a damask print tote with ‘survival’ stuff inside, making them day of jewelry, plus a regular sterling necklace with a teeny tiny initial on it, covering hair & make up plus private day-of yoga, getting custom clutches made, and I also got these awesome daily journals that someone on here suggested.  Pretty pumped 🙂

– Thin Pashima/Shawl from Guatemala in in different patterns(BMs, I’ve seen them wear them since)

– Pewter Pearl Necklace with Ribbon Tie (BMs, they seemed to like them)

– Little Fabric Clutch (BM & Reader, seen one Bridesmaid or Best Man start using it the next day)

– Lavender Sachet (Reader)

Each gift bag had a little note thanking them for coming and had some personalized stuff.

We also took care of housing and most of the food for the time the BMs were in town.

Only one had been in a wedding before so I know they weren’t comparing to previous. Another Bridesmaid or Best Man since has said that she felt lucky- she was an attendant or something at a cousin’s wedding a month later and hated the necklace she got.

For my BFFs wedding, I got a lovely tote bag with my name embroidered on it (it’s in my fave pattern and color) which I adore, a flip camera, flip flops, and a a makeup bag. It was very generous. She also gave my SO and I some giftcards to go out because we’d put some extra work into the wedding (SO made the cakestand and I was Maid/Matron of Honor so I planned/paid for a lot).

For my sister’s wedding, we got custom made earrings to wear on the day of + manicures the day before. Both very lovely gifts!

I haven’t really had a bad one TBH, yay!

When I was the Maid/Matron of Honor I received a pearl bracelet.  I don’t mean to sound greedy, but considering that I threw her a shower, had to travel to the wedding and stay in a hotel, purchase my own dress and shoes, I was a little let down.  It probably also had something to do with the fact that I never received a thank you note for any of the three gifts I bought her.

As a bridesmaid in a destination wedding, I received: my dress, shared hotel room with the other 4 BMs, tote bag, framed photo, mini rum bottles, really pretty silver bracelet.

For my BMs I am giving them:  Their dress (plus Visa gift card for alterations), hair, make up, pearl earrings, silver jewelry box with their first initial engraved on it and a bottle of “Bridesmaid” wine.

You guys have some awesome ideas in here.  I’m stealing some of them for Christmas presents and for my own bridesmaids.

I’ve been in two weddings.  For one, we got a necklace.  I wore it for the wedding, but it wasn’t for the wedding.

The other wedding was pretty disappointing.  Considering how much help I’d given even though I lived two hours away, I got a candy necklace and a dollar store picture frame without a picture in it.

I’ve lived and learned though.  I’m definitely going to shop for my BMs like it’s their birthday, not like I need to accessorize them.

I’ve been a bridemaid 4 times. Maid/Matron of Honor once. Everyone gave jewelry. The best jewelry was a pearl earring and necklace set, and a beautiful cz necklace. One friend gave a silver box from Things Remembered. And another a mani/pedi set. I still use all of those.

For my girls, I’m giving them jewelry, pashminas and a clutch. Fiance and I would also like to buy their dresses, but are still figuring out the finances with that. After the wedding, I’ll give them a photo of us by our photographer. (Photographers always take those photos. I’ve always wanted a professional photo with my bride friends, but never got one.)

I’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man three times, Maid/Matron of Honor two of those times. First was a destination type of wedding, and I got this bright pink passport holder. A little outside my style, but it was still a cute idea. Another wedding, we got beach sandals, mini bottles of wine, and necklaces with charms choosen individually for each Bridesmaid or Best Man – yet the sandals for me were too big, and the charm was a passport which isn’t something I’ll be likely to wear. My favorite though was a cute tote bag which I use all the time, and a bracelet that was in the same color scheme as the wedding but wasn’t required for us to wear.

I think it’s really a hit and miss thing. I’m gracious to all of the women for putting in the thought and showing their appreciation, as that’s all that matters at the end of the day. But some people’s styles are just different, and unless you mention it in a casual manner you might not know if it will be something they’ll be in love it.

I’m getting each girl a $50 dollar gift card to Nordstrom, a cashmere scarf, slippers from Brookstone, and a $20 dollar gift card to Starbucks with one of those little travel mugs!

Everyone’s saying I’m going overboard, but, I love them and want to spoil them like they’ve spoiled me! 🙂

ETA: I forgot to say what the best and worst gifts I got were!
Best gift – A pearl bracelet with a silver monogrammed tag. So pretty, and thoughtful!

Worst – A flower hair clip that matched my dress….that’s it. I mean, I’m not trying to sound unappreciative, but, after all I did for her, she got me a flower clip….? It fell apart during the reception! :/

@missomally: Where did you get all of those? I think those are so neat.
