svwedding:  it was SUPER fun… I literally went home with this thing, then I bought a bowl, rocks a little castle and a plant. Like 300 worth of stuff and the damn thing was dead two days later… On the upside the marriage outlasted the fish…lol

Rappig:  whew!! I wasn’t seeing pearles posted on this thread until I seen your comment! I got my bridesmaids strands of pearles and I’m paying for our spa day 2 days before the wedding 🙂

just glad to hear that was on your “best” list!

Best I’ve recieved: locket necklace with my first initial that I was given for being a flower girl many years ago. I still have it to this day.

This is what I’m planning to give my best friend who is traveling from Texas to my post-marriage dinner cruise in MN (she would have been a bridesmaid if we didn’t elope):

I thought my sister really knocked it out of the park with bridesmaid gifts on a budget: monogrammed tote bags (not my style, but SO useful on the wedding day), black pashmina, black evening clutch (very simple style), and the fascinators we wore in our hair for the wedding (totally cute; I wear mine all the time). I loved that all of her gifts were simple and classic—they were all useful on the day and I’ve kept on using them. Every time I use them, I remember how fun that wedding was!

svwedding:  I know I was super upset apparently none of them lasted long. I don’t know if the fish wasn’t alright to start with, or maybe the wedding upset them, I understand goldfish don’t do well if they’re stressed. Either way no live things in centerpieces for me.

jily:  That’s so awful, poor little things.  🙁  Our centerpieces are just going to be candles in various mismatched glass containers.  Definitely nothing alive.

I gave my bridesmais, just my two sisters, antique spoon bracelets. Basicly fancy antique spoons made in to clasp bracelets, with names monogrammed on them. They loved them. As well as tumblers with tops and straws for etting ready. Also go my neices. flower girls, these too loved them.

I have never been a bridesmaid, and only been asked once and the wedding is in Hawaii which I can’t make work money wise.

I must not be like other people, I love getting the jewlery for the wedding since that means I don’t have to buy it!! Or pay for my hair/make-up for the day of. I am not in the wedding to get a good bridesmaid present, the less money I have to pay for being in a wedding, the better.
