It is crazy that there are so many Branford House Brides on here. 🙂 I’m not one but I do love the place.
I love Gourmet Galley Catering and I know they do catering there too. I think they are a bit more than some other caterers that you can get but they are really good and personally I think it is worth it.

Oops, just saw your rec. I ended up booking with Jason Palermo for a very reasonable price so I’m excited. I’m now in negotaitions with the florist, and should hopefully sign that contract in the next couple of weeks.

I am getting married in 12 days at the Gershon Fox Ballroom. Totally excited! Anywho, saw the chit chat about a DJ. Fiance and I found this the hardest to make a decision about because how do you audition a DJ? We went to a wedding last October and the DJ was stinking awesome! Everyone was dancing huge array of music. Plus he’s hysterical. His name is Josh and he is known as Mr.Musicman. http://www.mrmusicman.net.
He is not just doing the DJ’ing but included in his price is a photomontage on this huge screen he has during dinner and uplighting as well. He also has all of the equipment to project your monogram or whatever (you have to buy the personalized piece for this we paid $60) He’s doing the ceremony music and has all microphone’s and everything.
I just peaked at his website and it looks like his prices went up again, however this happened right before we booked him too and we told him we were planning on paying less because of what we heard the pricing was. So we got his more expensive package for the lower package price. You can mention me and maybe he would do the same for you. We’re Melissa and John and getting married on the Gershon in December, I would assume that would be enough for him to think you know us haha.

Hey Ladies!! I have just started planning my wedding and have my heart set on the Branford House. It’s such a beautiful spot to get married! Right now we are pricing out different caterers, it’s unbelievable how expense they can be. Can’t wait to be an offical branford house bride!

How lovely to have another potential Branford House bride on the board! Good luck with all the caterers, they really are crazy expensive. I have to say though that of all of them, Coastal Gourmet were very good about doing everything they could to get down to the price we had in mind. They even threw in a couple of freebies for us.

phtotgrapher- david frost for the classic wedding look
raw photo-more then double the price but more edgy
or eric foley also around the 5k price range but i love his work..not enough to pay 5k though 🙁
DJ-LOCAL MOTION!!! FABULOUS! DID AN AMAZING JOB AND GAVE US A HUGE DISCOUNT
FLOWERS BY DANIELLE- out of thousands of wedding flowers i only had an issue with 2 centerpeices but she is fantastic!
DON NOT BOOK Premeire limo, cosmopolitan limo or abc limo. Go with Encore limo pm me for detail
DO NOT go with luigis bakery in bridgeport unless you want stale cake with a half assed fondant job HOWEVER if your budget allows it Palmers bakery in Darien has an AMAZING white chocolate rasberry cake mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Naomi Martinez Salon in west hartford, great stylist-really overpriced ($80 a bm)
Victors videos (cheap and treats you like family) i have watched my wedding video over and over
dont go with any of the following venues all owned by the same ppl
A BIG YES TO BRIDAL TROUSSEAU for wedding gowns however alterations are hit or miss there. I should know i work there. but i know for a fact they dont overcharge you and tim knows his shit ONLY DEAL WITH TIM or jodi. ps lie about your wedding date by a few months bc they wait to order dresses. every shop does that.

Thinking about a CT venue not too far from the NYC area becuase NYC and the surrounding boroughs are a RIP OFFFFFF for venues, site fees, taxes UGH everything! the fiance’ is from west hartford so we’re open to anywhere where we can have ONE wedding at a time and well be married and have the reception in the same place – love modern WAREHOUSE type feel but cant find one in CT for some reason. we’re gonna have under but close to 200 ppl. looking at fall 2013 or spring 2014 – any suggestions w/ outdoor space too would be great!! thanks CTBeesss

If you want a warehouse type of feel go with the lace factory. It’s not really near NY (it’s in Deep River, CT)…but it’s such an amazing space. It was tied with the venue I ended up going with but I didn’t choose it because it would have been more expensive. The space is empty and you have to rent the tables, chairs, etc. BUT IT IS SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!

@haker4: thanks so much! It looks like you have to end by 10 and the owner was reviewed as very difficult to work with but we may check it out 🙂

@SavesAnimals: Oh yeah!! I had forgotten about the curfew! That’s a big negative. I never met the owner. We toured with the caretaker. That’s a bummer because the place is really so amazing! I hope you find your dream location!! Keep me updated. I’d love to see what you end up choosing.

Hi Beeeess!! Congrats to all! My frist post- yay!!! I’m jumping the gun with no OFFICIAL engagement yet…but after the man accicentally listened to his voicemail on speaker and it was a courtesy call from KAy Jewelers…I decided…why not start on the research??? 🙂 🙂
In the conversation we’ve had..our ideal is a fairly laid-back beachy feel wedding. We have family in MA and NY and thought CT would be perfect. I would LOVE a clambake wedding! I also love something a little out of the ordinary…but am not really a rustic girl.
Any thoughts on these venues?
Madison Beach Hotel
I’d love any help to get us off to a great start!!!

Well, congratulations! I bought my dress before I got officially engaged, so you’re in good company 🙂 Maybe I can live vicariously through you and you should go check out the carousel at lighthouse point. A carousel, that’s a little out of the ordinary I think… Tell me what you find, my people need to be near Hartford so I had to nix anything along the shoreline.
