My sister is about four months pregnant with a baby boy and I’ll be hosting her shower in only 2.5 months! I have to send the invites out soon, and also start seriously planning this thing!
Share with me your favorite baby shower stories/memories, things you loved, things you didn’t like so much, etc – I need lots of ideas!

Goodluck with planning! My sister just had her baby, and her shower was a month or so ago. Sadly, I was not involved in any planning (I did make a diaper cake), so enjoy it, and if others offer to help, hear them out! 🙂
Now, I had a blast, as the host did all sorts of games. I really like the games, and she gave out $10 giftcards to each winner (which we all gave to the mother to be).
A few games I liked:
-Guess the belly size with a string (I won this one!)
-There was some sheet of paper with different phrases and you had to guess the name to match. IE: Under girls, “A season” – Autumn. It was store bought, no idea where though
-“Who said that” – host asks mom/dad a list of questions about what they would do with the baby in different situations. We had to guess which one said that. It was fun seeing how well you knew someone.
They split up the gift opening with games in between, which was nice.
If you are planning food, considering a few options. Her’s was just quiche.. and I hate quiche. I would have loved to see some other little appetizer options, or even chips! Thankfully they had chocolate cake at the end.

I loved what my friends planned for me, it was really laid back and fun without feeling forced. We played the “guess the size of the belly” with string (which was hilarious).
The guests were asked to bring a “not so obvious” baby picture of themselves – the hosts put all the pictures on a big sheet of bristol board with little heart-shaped post-its with numbers, and gave everyone a sheet of paper to write down who they thought each picture was. It was really cute to try to guess who was who and see such cute baby pictures, and it was a way to include everyone (I don’t love being the centre of attention, so it was nice that the focus was on everyone else for a bit!).
The one thing I asked that we do (and I paid for the supplies rather than insist my friends do it) was decorate onesies, an idea I got from another thread here, and I’m so glad we did it. I bought enough for everyone to have one and bought them in sizes from 0-12 months, with fabric paint that came in markers so they were really easy to use and not messy (no brushes or anything needed). They came out SO cute… my favourite one was “If you think I’m cute, you should see my Daddy”… ha ha!!
