Bloomingdales one day home sale is this coming Saturday! Preview on Friday – I sound like an adverstisement, but I went through the ad yesterday and they have some nice towels for great prices, I believe that includes the RL ones.

I actually have towels from Kohl’s that I absolutely love! I think they are the Sonoma brand? They are not very expensive, but are soft and durable!

I cannot buy towels online, I have to feel them. They have to be soft and fluffy and I won’t know that from a picture. They also may only last until you wash them. So my rule is  – buy one, wash it and dry it, if it stays soft and fluffy then buy more…. LOL

I don’t know the brand but we got some off our registry from Kohl’s as a wedding gift and they are sooooo nice!

We bought ours from Bed, Bath and Beyond. They have an incredible return policy. You can return them at any time, for any reason, even if they’ve been used.  So you can try them out and return them if you don’t like them.  Most places won’t take them back after they’ve been washed.

I love the Martha Stewart towels from Macy’s. We got a giant set as a wedding gift and they’re amazing. SO SOFT. I love the ‘bath sheet’ too. It’s like the size of a beach towel. They go on sale for 50% off all the time.

Of all the towels I have had over the years I am the most pleased with the Better Homes and Garden one I purchased at Walmart. Which is so weird because most stuff I buy there is junk. I don’t use a dryer and yet they are still soft and fluffy. They haven’t faded or bled in the past three years. Basically the look as good as when I bought them. Considering how much abuse they take ie: Fiance toweling dry the dog (yuck!} I say that is pretty good.

This is a great thread! I may have to try the Martha or Hotel Collection towels from Macy’s. We have Charter Club from Macy’s right now, but they are really sensitive to any kind of skincare item. I’ve never had a skincare item bleach out any of my clothes or towels before, but these get what look like bleach stains if I accidentally wipe my hands on them after applying certain skin treatments. I’m going to be switching up next time we need towels!

Bath Towels feel and perform differently BECAUSE of how the terry cloth is left after manufacturing… be it looped, or sheared (where they cut off the ends of the loops)

Generally speaking sheared towels will feel softer to the touch (like velvet) in the store, but are usually not as absorbant as a looped towel that hasn’t been cut.

People tend to prefer ONE or the other kind … so like happyface:  said I too am one who has to see and touch the towel I am considering buying.  And in an ideal situation, have some time to bring it home, try it out, and launder it to see how it stands up BEFORE I make a commitment to a bunch of towels in a set.

For the most part, I cannot vote on your Poll, because as always we have less selection of goods here in Canada than in the US (although I’ve heard of all those stores / brands listed… many of them are not here in Canada), AND we also have some brands here that are not available in the US.

Still I hope my info is helpful,
