Not Tampa or Clearwater, but I’d check out St Pete Beach. Coral Reef Resort rents little condos for good prices and they are right on the beach with an AMAZING pool and a cool beach bar right next door. Some other good ones are the Don Cesar ($$$ expensive but awesome), The Tradewinds, and the Grand Plaza Hotel

I’d second St. Pete Beach – they have a huge strip of hotels/resorts on the beach. We used to stay there when we would go on family vacations. We used to stay at the Alden resort in first floor beach front suites, which was so nice.

another vote for st pete.  clearwater is so bogged down with tourist and tampa is still a drive to the beach.  clearwater and St pete are very close to eachother.  If you are flying into Tampa, depending on time of day you will still have a 40 min drive to the beach.  traffic is terrible.  no idea for resorts though, sorry.

bridetobe24:  well I might be super biased about my love of Coral Reef because that’s where we were staying when Fiance proposed on the beach in front of our room but my in laws own a timeshare and I’ve been down with them every year and I absolutely adore it. The pools are great, the beach is amazing and not super crowded, the condos have a full kitchen so you can cook your own food,  it saves a ton of money, and it’s very clean and modern. If I’m being honest the only thing I hate is the non air conditioned elevator but that’s pretty minor haha. It’s also a little hard to find from the street but not too bad. It has a ton of great restaurants and ice cream shops within walking distance too. I’ll attach some pics from our time there over the years if you’re interested

This is the non awesome pool Haha

The view to the ocean from our balcony

Sunset at a crab place down the road

Part of the cool pool it’s huge and has like 4 hot tubs. Surprisingly none of this ever gets crowded.

bridetobe24:  Oh my gosh, it’s been like 12 years since I’ve been there, but I remember really liking the rooms – they also are like little condos. They have kitchenettes with stoves and refrigerators, and we would always just do lunchmeat sandwiches during the day and go out for dinner. I remember going to this one restaurant called Crabby Bill’s. It is SO good. Definitely recommend. We would also do dinner one night at the Don Cesar (which was a little pricier for a family of five + grandparents + family that lives in Tampa).

Every year we would do a dolphin “cruise” which basically equated to going out in Tampa bay on a boat and watching the wild dolphins. It’s about a 2 hour drive from DisneyWorld – we would always do a day there as well. One year we went to Cape Canaveral as well (3 hour drive). Mostly though, we would just chill on the beach and by the pool. The beach at St. Pete is nice. Quieter than the touristy places, and it’s white sand and seashells. You can also swim out to the sandbar and find some sand dollars.

I actually just looked up the Coral Reef resorts, and they are right next door to the hotel I mentioned, lol!
