Im in the market for a new blender, since my cheapo black and decker broke down (it couldnt handle frozen fruits). I make smoothies about 5 times a week at least, but unfortunately cannot afford to buy a $400 blender like the blendtec or vitamix. I do want one that can handle frozen fruits. Any suggestions for one thats maximum $150? I was looking into a Ninja but I’ve heard mixed reviews….?

@enzoani4sale: We got a Ninja for a shower gift a little voer a year ago. I LOVE IT!! We make smoothies at least 3 times per week and I use tons of frozen fruit and ice – works like a charm!

Breville Ikon. Love it and the smoothie setting is bulletproof. I don’t know how much it costs, though.

I have and like NInja. Makes smoothies, and handles frozen fruit/ice better than many others. Easy to clean up since it comes apart.
Some older models had a different ‘drive’ mechanism that stripped. I had one of those models. When it stripped I called to buy the replacement part. IIRC I bought the new blade, but they sent me the new powerhead free – whatever the deal I thought it was good customer service. The new one is great.

@enzoani4sale: I love the ninja, it is amazing and cheap! I make all sorts of weird things in there and it does just fine.

I have a ninja also and it’s the best dang blender I’ve ever owned. Yesterday my in-laws stopped by and my Father-In-Law saw the blender and was like ‘this thing looks like it could kill something……’
yes, it murders fruit and ice into delicious smoothies a few times a week ๐ bwaha
Also, I got the one that has single serving blender cups too. AMAZING

We currently have a Ninja. We use it almost daily, and have had it for about 2 years. I have to say, we registered for a Vitamix (haha, doubt we’ll get one! but hopeful….)
After our wedding, we’ll probably have to invest in a new Ninja (if we don’t get the Vitamix.. again, wishful thinking!!) It just got a little beat up constantly being thrown in the dishwasher. Can’t complain tho, I enjoy my morning protein shake with Fiance and the Ninja does great on our frozen fruit and lots of ice ๐
