I’ve seen that a lot of the Bees have had great ideas of what to give their bridesmaids but I’m trying to look at this from the bridesmaid’s perspective. If you have been a bridesmaid in the past, what was the best "bridesmaid gift" that you received from the bride?

I was thinking about doing that but one of my BMs doesn’t want to get her hair done at the place I’ve booked 🙁

I’ve only been a bridesmaid once. And we got the jewelry to wear the day of the wedding. I may even still have it, but honestly I’ve never worn it again. I like when bridesmaids wear similar dresses but different accessories.
I would appreciate, if I’m ever a bridesmaid again, Starbucks gift cards, gift certificate for a massage or mani/pedi, or something that reflects my releationship with the bride (photo, scrapbook, etc.)

Would she, if she knew it was paid for? that kinda sucks, but I opted out of the salon a bride wanted to book us for–simply b/c SIL is a hairstylist and would do it for free, versus $80 =]

I’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man 3 times. The first I got some jewelry for the wedding, not quite my style but a lovely gift anyway, the 2nd I got a Starbucks gift card (ummmm it was a shotgun wedding, who has time for these details), and the 3rd I was the Maid/Matron of Honor and we all got beautiful jewelry boxes from Things Remembered engraved with our names, and as a little extra for all the organizing I did, I got a $100 gift cert to Mario Tricoci (a somewhat fancy salon chain in Chicago). The gift certificate was the best because I never would have spent my own money at a salon that nice, so it was a real treat.

@ejs4y8: No, it has nothing to do with the price, she just decided not to drive down to the town where the wedding is until right before the wedding, so she is getting her hair done where she lives (about 2 hours away).
What makes it ironic is that she is my brother’s wife, and when I was in her wedding, her Bridesmaid or Best Man gift to us was paying for our hair that day.

Daisy, mine dont either. Im letting them all get it done where they want (frustrating for us paying, but get a gift certificate) and then we’re all getting together after that

Hm, that is ironic!
Too bad she doesn’t want to participate. I’m getting my hair done super early so i can still hang out at the salon w/ everyone so i’m not missing out =]
You could still I guess cover hair, just at the specific salon shes’ going to. But that’s kind of a pain, too.
I think in general, anything pampering is nice. Spending money on ME is always the last thing on my list. I feel so guilty about the $25 for pedicures, and yet so good afterwards. It’s a sickness =]

I’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man twice. The first time we received jewelry to wear with our dresses. It was okay, but not something I would have worn often, if ever again. My sister was also a Bridesmaid or Best Man in the same wedding, and her necklace broke less than an hour before the wedding. She and I spent a good 20 minutes trying to fix it and finally managed to rig it so it would hold through the ceremony, but broke soon after. The other wedding I was in, we had our (custom-made but not re-wearable) dresses, shoes, hair, and jewelry paid for. The dress is still hanging in a closet, but I’ve worn the shoes and jewelry a few times since then. I liked that my hair was taken care of, so that I didn’t have to worry about it.

I just remembered that I received jewelry when I was in a wedding a few years ago, I never wore it again and I don’t even know where it is. I guess I won’t be giving my girls jewelry!!

Last summer, we all got a Vera Bradley Jewlery roll and medium make-up bag. We all went to the MAC Counter and got our make-up done and the bride bought us each the lipgloss color and one other item. I got some great make-up out of the deal, and it was easy on the bride too.

I loved the huge monogrammed tote I got for the first wedding I was in.
I’m getting the bmaids Coach clutches and the readers/program attendant small monogrammed totes.
