Le:  it’s totally a personal preference at the end of the day. When we were ring shopping there was a place downtown that sold moissanites, so we decided to go look in person since in pictures you can’t tell the difference. Well in person we could totally tell the difference, it was glaringly obvious that it was not “a diamond” and was another stone. The sales lady noticed our reaction and commented that moissanites photograph really well, but I didn’t want a ring that only looked good in pictures. So we went with a diamond. No offense to anyone with a moissanite, just my experience with it.

Le:  I have both diamond and moissy as I’m an older ring-obsessed Bee. I love my diamond, but I wanted a larger size and wanted to put our money towards the kids’ College so I bought an oec moissy. I love the OEC moissy! I have never had anyone ask what it is. I am older though and in another stage of life than many newlyweds so no one doubts it. But I do love it!! No one but you look will that closely so get what YOU love! Congrats!

I agree with the others, you should get what you want. If you know that you want a diamond and maybe can’t afford the size you want, go with a store that has a trade up program. That way you can trade up to a bigger size later.

If you are leaning toward a simulant, you can always order a loose stone from Moissaniteco to see if thats what you would like. If not, send it back.

Le:  Ahhh, I’ve been looking forward to seeing these new Amora gem cuts! Though personally I love the ultra H&A cut.

They both sparkle and Fire but it’s a little different from each other. I would say my Amora sparkles more but with mine it doesn’t really have a too much of a disco ball effect kind of sparkle. Basically it sparkles more than a diamond and that can be how you tell the difference. though I haven’t had a single person think it’s anything else, if people want to know then I am honest but don’t go out of my way to explain it. The only nightmare in capturing the sparkle is on film, I can never get it as it looks in real life lol.

This shot shows its cut more and depth.

I think moissanite is actually more sparkly, but it does behave differently than a diamond. I love mine and wouldn’t trade it!

I finally saw a moissanite in person – amazing! It was a loose princess cut that the jeweler was working with on a custom ring, and if it’s a consideration, I seriously doubt anyone would know it wasn’t a diamond. It was on the smaller side, probably half a carat. I wish I could see a large stone.. that is what I want! And I will proudly tell everyone it’s a moissy 🙂

I have a Forever Brilliant moissy e-ring. I knew exactly what style I wanted, and there’s no way I was going to ask my Fiance to spend $15k for something I would be wearing on my finger. Diamonds just aren’t for me, but having a diamond does matter to some people. If you really want a diamond (and your Fiance can afford it), go for it. If not, I highly recommend moissanite. Everyone assumes it’s diamonds, and when I tell people that it’s moissanite, they don’t believe me. Here’s my ring.

I voted other, for “the gem you want”. Sorta like answering what the best exercise is; it’s the one you’ll want to do.

    Happy shopping, Bee!

I’ve got a forever one moissanite and I couldn’t be happier! It’s so stunning and sparkles like nothing else I’ve ever seen!

Consider a lab grown diamond. They ARE diamonds – just grown in a lab instead of in the Earth. They are better for the environment (no mining), and you know no miner died getting it. They are slightly cheaper than mined diamond – but not a lot.

I considered diamond, lab grown, and moissanite, before deciding on my lab grown. I love Moissanite too – if it was just up to me I probably would have gone with Forever Brilliant or Forever one – because I love big rings but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg to get one! My husband, however, loved the diamond – and insisted I get it – so I got a 1.09 ct, F, S1 lab grown, and am so happy with it.

We went with 2 carat white sapphire. Very affordable and beautiful sparkle.
