My ideal venue would of been the Wadsworth mansion, but logistically it was not feasible. And my husbands dad threw a hissy fit. So I had my wedding more towards Danbury so I can’t be of help there. My cousin had her wedding at Lilly lake in which was nice and that is in WOlcott. Our photographer was great she is out of Milford and is willing to travel. Shes sweet and super upbeat and she takes some pretty good photos. Check for my recap in a couple of weeks. My DJ came highly reccomended off of the knot. His prices were amazing and he was so nice. He is not an in your face type of DJ! He is subdued but the music was great and to quote my photographer she is obsessed with him. 🙂 He is willing to travel and is out of the Mohegan area. My videographer is sweet but irking me a little he is very late with a teaser. I think that is all we had out of central ct. Ahhh my dress.Bridesmaid and my dress was purchased at Mariellas in Rocky Hill. I would go somewhere else or suggest requesting anyone other than Dora for your appointment. While I love my dress I felt pushed and a huge amount of dress regret. The selection great. Prices are what they are anywhere else. So go look but don’t buy from their. Im going to message you my DJ and photographer names.

I am getting married at the Farmington Club, sister to Aqua Turf. It is smaller but just as lovely and budget friendly.

I was married at The Gershon Fox Room in Hartford. It was amazing. Here is my review.

I can not say enough about The Gershon Fox Ballroom. My wedding day was over a month ago and I am still in awe of how perfect the day was. I’ll start with the planning process. The event coordinator Jessica was absolutely fabulous. She must have met with me and my family/vendors four or five times and she was gracious, helpful and full of suggestions each time. If I emailed her on a Saturday at 10pm, she would respond right away, even if it was just to say “I got your email, I’ll make sure I get you whatever on Monday.” I truly felt like a VIP as did all my guests. Over the course of my planning I truly felt like she became a friend and I was so happy to have had her there for me. Tony, the banquet manager, is also phenomenal. If I had an idea or wanted something setup a certain way, he would understand right away and make sure it was done and done right! The food was amazing, the decor is striking, modern and the atmosphere of the venue is pure elegance. Several of my guests said they felt like they were at a high society wedding and everything was perfect. It truly was. I would recommend this venue a million times! Thank you all so much!

I’m getting married at Latitude 41 (Mystic Seaport) and I love it! The coordinators there are awesome, the food is delicious, and they only have F&B minimums there instead of rental fees. So there’s my little plug for my venue.

As for venues that I loved as a guest: St. Clement’s Castle, the Marquee (new name of the G. Fox Ballroom, I think?), the Riverfront Boathouse in Hartford. All of these places had great food and a great atmosphere.

I don’t want to get into the ones that I didn’t like because I hate to be negative but you can always PM me if you want that info.

For other vendors, I’m using Azalea for flowers, Susan Sancomb Photography, and Larissa Lake Makeup Artists. I have nothing but great things to say about these people.

I didn’t buy my dress from White Dress By The Shore but I had a great experience there and I think they have wonderful customer service.

And…. that’s all I can think of for now!

I am getting married at the Inn at Longshore in Sept 2013.. You’re lucky to be looking for 2014 you will have your pick of venues and vendors!  For vendors I don’t have many I can recommend bc we havent booked many yet, but I can tell you who were currently looking at that seem to be well priced… Photographer is called Binary Flips, Band is the La Blanc Brothers.. I found two videographers I like but I’m not sure about pricing, they are called Vantage Films and Fairytale Studios.

Also, if Mystic is an option for you Eolia Mansion is gorgeous as is Branford House :). Happy planning!

I’m getting married at Tyrone Farm in Sept. 2013. I am really obsessed with the amazing views and how the grounds really decorate themselves. The price tag looks high at first, but then you realize that most other sites with nickle and dime you for everything from different chairs to standard lighting. This place includes everything and then some!

The other place we looked at and loved was Lord Thompson Manor. It bills itself as a local “destination” style venue since there are about 13 guest rooms where your closest friends and family can stay for the weekend.

I definitely recommend checking out both locations in 1 day since they are only 20 mins away from each other.

Good luck!
