Ours was our first “official” date – we’d been friends for a long time, and had sort of started getting together, but were 3hrs apart. When I moved home and we spent more time together, he organised a proper dinner date – very ‘traditional’ ๐Ÿ˜› It was AWESOME! We were so happy and talked away the whole night, he looked HOT (semi-formal attire), we held hands and gazed into each others’ eyes lol, went for a walk arm in arm along the coast afterwards and everything. It was perfect! And it kind of sealed the deal at an early stage – we knew we were onto something special and it’s just built from there ๐Ÿ™‚ That was about 5 months before we got engaged.

Our best date ever wa a total accident.  Fiance drove me to my facial appointment because he wanted to go to a nearby store.  Well, my facial was over before he was done, so he suggested that I walk a couple blocks to a wine store.  He would meet me there and check it out.  So I did.  And we did.  It was fun, but the best thing about it was that across the street there was a truffle store.

A magic truffle store, where as first timers, we we plied with tons and tons of free samples.  And everything was delicious.  We bought truffles and cakes and cookies.  Oh my.

Then, we went to another wine store Fiance had found online.  Except when we got there, it was not only a wine store, but it was a wine bar too.  And it was happy hour.  We stayed at the wine bar for much longer than originally anticipated, way longer than I thought I would considering my post-facial face and baseball cap.  We made friends with another couple.  They bought us wine, we bought them wine.  We hung out.  We were newly engaged at the time, so we spent a lot of time chatting about wedding planning and just being excited about our future.  Oh, and we ate amazing pizza!  All in all, a perfect day.  Plus we ate the truffles when we got home.

Our most perfect date was a whole weekend.  He came out to visit me for the first time since I left the country that he lives in and we spent a whirlwind weekend skiing, snowshoeing, eating sushi with friends, going to hockey games, and otherwise keeping him as busy as ever (he LOVES that).  That’s my guy – you keep him run-off-his-feet busy with outdoor sports and he’s a happy man.

It was after that trip that our long distance relationship became official.  And although we didn’t say it until the next visit a couple of months later, I think that’s when we fell in love.

Our “first date” was an entire 4 days touring Seattle. We went to all the landmarks, got lost driving around the city… enjoyed the parks & the yummy food.

We had many amazing firsts on that trip & we both look back so fondly on the weekend that started it all essentially!

We had been friends for awhile but only been dating for about three months and it was my birthday. I really wasn’t expecting anything but dinner, but around 10am he said to get dressed with a bathing suit underneath. We went to the local waterpark where I had not been in years and he bought me a hot dog and a funnel cake and all that other good trashy food and we rode on the rides and he pushed me around the lazy river for an hour. Then we got all dolled up and went to dinner at my favorite fondue restaurant where I got to choose whatever I wanted. I figured that was it, but then as we were driving back he stopped at the tennis courts of the condo complex and told me to get out of the car. I was very confused, but we got out and walked onto the tennis court and he whipped out a little portable CD player and a CD he had made of waltz and tango music. He turned it all the way up and we danced all around the court for at least an hour. (We actually gathered a crowd as it was just dusk and people were out for their evening walks). After that I got to open my present. It was a VHS copy he had found on Ebay of my favorite cartoon ever–Willie the Whale–that has been out of production for ages and I had mentioned to him months before.

It was wonderful. I think that was when I knew he was The One.

My best date with my bf was our first date together. We went to the park and started kissing and then allof a sudden it started to rain. We just stayed in the rain and continued kissing. We were soaking wet by the end of it but it was the most fun I’d ever had. I came home and knew this was the person I would be with forever.

Our first date, I was an hour late, cell phone was dead, I locked my keys in my apartment, his credit card got declined, none of the food he wanted to impress me with was available at the restaurant, we couldn’t find a cab and got stuck in pouring rain, my ankle was broken and I was wearing a stabilizer boot…

but it was the BEST night of our lives.  And I knew he was the one.

A close second was the first night said he he loved me.  We went to a spanish restaurant and he totally caught me off guard.

Our best date was probably our first Valentine’s day together. We drove an hour and a half from our university down to Kansas City to go to the Cheesecake Factory on the Plaza. We’d been seeing each other since November but had hardly gone on any “real” dates–we were friends then we were hanging out/dating and too busy with school to do much other than chill.

The Cheesecake Factory gave us the run-around for 4 hours–they kept losing our reservation or not writing us down, or any number of excuses. So we wandered around the Plaza, looking in stores and playing Name that Price with the ugly lamps at Banana Republic and playing with the cool toys at the science toys store. We eventually gave up and ate dinner at an Applebee’s on the way back to school. But it was an amazing date. We talked and talked and got to spend real, quality one on one time, which due to lots of roommates had been lacking. That’s when we really knew that we had something good going that was more than just a fling between friends.

We still talk about that date. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’d have to say it was dinner at Canoe (one of my fave restaurants in  ATL) on NYE right after we’d begun dating exclusively.

Somehow the evening was magical.

I loved all their food, always do, but their appetizer that intrigued me (us) the most was their artisan cheese plate.  12 different cheeses arranged like hours on a clock and there was a short explanation of the history of the cheeses and from where they were made but the waiter gave us such an in depth lesson on it.  It was so fun.

Plus I was sittin’ by HIM!  T and I were in that incredible super duper starry eyed phase..but we kinda still are ๐Ÿ™‚

If asked this question a few days ago I would have answered our first official date two years ago when he took me to an outdoor art exhibit (Waterfire in Providence RI) where beautiful music was playing and gondolas floated down the river.  He took me to an amazing dinner then walking down the cobblestoned street he grabbed me and kissed me under a willow tree (makes my knees weak still thinking about it two years later).

But now I have to say last Sunday was our most amazing date.  A month or so ago he asked me out for a ‘secret’ date on the 8th.  He wouldn’t give me hints but asked me to wear his favorite black dress and my cashmere coat.  On Sunday we drove to Boston and parked by Rowe’s Warf for a dinner cruise on a 5-star ship.  It’s off season so there was only a small wedding and two other tables onboard.  When we boarded we were asked what we were there to celebrate so we said our engagement and his new job.  The DJ came by and asked what ‘our song’ was but I told him since it’s a Staind song we didn’t want to subject the other diners to it so we requested a classic song.  So we had an amazing dinner and dessert and after the wedding had it’s first dance the DJ asked us to come up to dance to Frank Sinatra’s The Way You Look Tonight.  The night was amazingly beautiful and my love said the most romantic things while we sat on deck looking at our favorite city all lit up.  When our cruise was almost over we went back to the dining room to find a dozen roses at my place and the DJ asked us to come up for one more dance and he played All I Want by Staind (not ‘our song’ but an awesome accoustic version I’d never heard before).  Magical night.

Our best date for me was our 3rd date. We went to see the movie Juno. We both loved the movie and we were laughing more than anyone else in the theater. Aftwards, we went to Steak N Shake for a burger and fries. We ended up staying there until after 2 am talking and laughing. It started snowing (I love the snow) but we didn’t want to leave. He folded a paper placemat into a swan for me (I still have it!). We finally put our waitress out of her misery (in our defense, they are open 24 hours) and left. When we got back to my place, we had our first kiss! I got so nervous that I hurried out of the truck, made him promise to text me when he got home (he had a 45-60 minute drive in the snow), and ran in the house.

It wasn’t the most extravegant date, or romantic by some people’s standards but it was the best. It was that date that I think I started to fall in love with him. From that point on, we were a couple.

Our first anniversary in NYC. We drove from Baltimore early in the morning, had breakfast at this famous dinner in New Jersey, then drove to NYC and saw The Lion King. It was incredible! We had dinner at Sosa Borella close to Times Square after. We were exhausted for the drive back, but it was such a great day! We felt so happy to be celebrating a year together and the whole day was fun and joyful ๐Ÿ™‚
