I am browsing online for dresses to get an idea of what I want for when I do go in stores sometime this Fall! I am seeing pricetags on some that are just insane. I am on a budget, and beyond that am of the belief that it’s just one day, and just a dress -while I want to look good, I don’t think I should have to “go crazy” so to speak with spending and am even not opposed to an already worn dress, or rented.
I want to see your bargain dresses! Let’s say $400 dress or less (new, used, rented, whatever!) and if you’re comfortable, show us a picture!
Bonus points if you’re in Canada, because I feel like it will be harder to find a deal on this side of the border for certain dresses!

This was the first dress I bought from Davids Bridal which I ultimately changed, but it was on sale for $350. The original price is $399. #WG9871

My dress was originally $400, but I got a coupon at a bridal show for $125 off, so it was $275

Ours were $450 each, so just over your limit. However, we had a special challenge in trying to get two that would complement each other.

I don’t have pics of me in my dress, but I got it for $76 on ebay, plus shipping of $30. It came with the dress, veil, bra, hair comb, and crinoline, all new with tags from David’s Bridal. I sold the veil and bra for $74 after I got the package. So, total cost of the dress up to this point: $32 (I haven’t had alterations done yet)… 🙂 My dress is a current style at DB selling for $599 (on sale) and all the other stuff was new with tags too and would have cost me $400 on top of the dress price had I bought it there.
I STRONGLY recommend watching ebay for deals. Find dresses you like, try on in person, then search ebay and set up a “saved search” to get daily notifications.
Anyway here is my dress:
Since I got such a good deal, I plan on altering it to a sweetheart neckline and I’ll be getting a double French bustle, and buying a fluffier petticoat…even after all that: a STEAL! 🙂

Heya, I picked up my Casablanca 1900 for $300, but I’m iffy…I’m not sure I suit it enough to pull it off so I’m still on the hunt, but it’s my backup 🙂

These are terrible pics but they were both $99. I am going to have to get some better ones. One is my reception dress, tea length, and the other I have as my TTD dress (I don’t want to ruin by beautiful dress).

$406 during an annual sale at a local bridal shop. It was a floor sample, but you’d have thought it was literally brand new. When you turned out the bottom of the skirt, it had no dirt!

$20 at vintage shop in the states. i edited the original long sleeves and paid a seamstress $80 for a bustle and collar stiffening.
check out this site:
i bought my first dress there for $500, brand new Casablanca with tags. i made her an offer a little lower than the advertised price and she took it. she gets really fabulous stuff in there.

$250 off ebay, new with tags!
Alterations will cost me about $50 (according to my seamstress’s estimate)
