Definitely round. Round is my favorite shape for all settings though. It’s nice that they also face up larger than other shapes.

I would agree with PP and say round.  It definitely looks the largest and has the most fire and brilliance in my opinion.  I was not a fan until I tried them on.  I originally thought I liked cushion cuts but then I saw the round cut on and fell in love!

Well, they all look great as solitaires! So it’s just a matter of personal preference. As you predicted, I strongly prefer round brillants.

I love radiants. If the brilliant cut and clarity are there, they toss light like crazy. Also, I like the fact you can get radiants that are more rectangular or square in dimensions so it’s not too uniform like a princess or round shaped diamond.

I currently have a pear solitaire, so pear for me 😉

I love rounds and cushions equally for solitares, but the round will face up larger. (Or so I read…)

I like cushion cut (the square cushion as opposed to the rectangular). My next choice would be round but since you want something other than round, I’d say my second choice would be pear.

I actually almost got a half-carat princess ring, so I voted for that one :). I also love the look of pears when they’re on their own!

I voted for oval since we can’t vote for round.

I’m opposite of others. I’m not a fan of round diamonds because everyone has one. For 1/2 carat I think I’d look at ovals, cushion, or pear. I have an emerald cut that’s 1.2 and a friend has a .5 marquis and they look the same size.
