I think it depends on preference, but I liked mermaids and fit and flare. A-lines looked good as well and give you more of a ballgown feel without feeling like you are lost in the dress.I tried on a ballgown and it was swimming on me.  I picked allure 2667 which is a fit and flare. I’m 5’1 and a size 0.

Mermaids, fit and flairs, and sheaths. I’m 5’2 and a size 2/4 in street clothes.

I work in a bridal boutique and get this question a lot. Obviously its your own preference but from what I have seen trumpet, fit and flare, modified a-line are the best. If you want a ballgown it should probably be dropped waist.

I know some people say mermaids but they come much lower than trumpet or fit and flares (from the knee) and because of this they can hit petite girls in the wrong place. A trumpet comes up slightly higher than a mermaid but has the same fitted effect.

Trumpet (flares out at the thigh)

Fit and Flare (a smore subtle flare that start fromt the hip or thigh)

Modified A-line (a modified a-line is more fitted than a standard a-line usually flares from hips)

Dropped Waist Ball Gown (Ball gown starts at hips or slightly higher)
