@roxy821:  I LOVE the UTI excuse…. anyone who has ever had one won’t question it at all! I’m using this for a wedding shower I have next weekend!

When i was newly pregs hardly anyone noticed I wan’t drinking. I would just order a virgin Mary if I went out but most of the time I just wanted to stay home LOL. And my husband and I were big big drinkers, happy hour every night, mimosas on Sundays. Really, people aren’t paying attention so I wouldn’t worry about it.

One of my best friends came to my daughters 1st birthday party and didn’t drink anything ( preggers and didn’t tell me yet!). I didn’t even notice either. And we love love love our wine.

Lol I’ve started to worry about this.. This is our first month of TTC, and we are both drinkers. We love our fancy beers, and our outings with friends almost always include drinking. Now that I’m trying, I’m starting to freak out about what to do when I get pregnant. Y’all have some great ideas! Unfortunately, most of my friends know that I’ve been wanting a baby, so I’ll probably give it away the first time I don’t drink, like @Cady:  posted lol! I like the medicine excuses, and ordering cranberry w/lime is good. Keep them coming 😀

I also have to say that I have been out in groups with women who were pregnant, not drinking, but had not announced it yet. Most people are very very polite about this type of thing so even if they suspect something ( which now that I think about it, I have on occasion) they are not going to ask you. Unless it’s your very best friend-so in that case I don’t know what to say.

I didn’t read through all PPs responses, so sorry if this has been repeated.

A guy I worked with emptied a couple of beers (probably by drinking them!) and filled the bottles with water at home.. when they got to a party his wife drank those.

I’m not sure what I’ll do when we get preg, maybe drink water dyed yellow since I usuaully drink wine? haha

i had a drink ordered for me and a friend in the know just switched with me after she drank hers. as long as i was holding something, i wasn’t asked any questions.

we had the same kind of issue with our neighbors because we always go to their house for drinks! i just brought something with me already that i claimed had hard liquor in it. 🙂

I really don’t think people pay as much attention as you think. We’ve been ttcffor almost a year and I cut out almost all alcohol just as a precaution and doing everything possible to increase/not decrease our chances. Honestly barely anybody’s ever said anything. The couple times someone did I just said I saw a dessert i really wanted on the menu and was saving my calories or that I was driving or had to be up early. Totally no big deal unless you make it one.

1. Acid reflux has been acting up; doc said to stay away from alcohol.

2. Trying to lose weight.  Too many calories in alcohol.

3. I had a major headache this morning and don’t want to risk getting another one. Alcohol always makes me feel icky the next morning.
