I am doing my own make-up for my wedding…which is crazy because I barely wear make-up… but anyway, Help a sister out!
I am going to Sephora this afternoon to check out eye shadows and although I’m sure the associates will be plenty helpful, I was hoping any ladies on the boards with a favorite brand would chime in!
I am looking for something matte, with NO glitter or sparkle or anything like that with LOTS of pigmentation- I am very interested in doing a smoky eye with purples or browns, still undecided. I’ve only ever used drug-store make-up the few times I have actually worn make-up and it never looks dramatic! Can anyone guide me towards a great brand? Price point is a non-issue at this point, I’m willing to splurge on this for my wedding.

I’ve not used it myself- because I’m not big on makeup either, but a friend of mine who is a make-up efficianato (spelling sorry!) LOVES MAC makeup. It’s not that expensive and it has high pigment. You can have them try it on you at a MAC store or counter to see what you think before you buy. Otherwise, Clinique is pretty good too… and they will also do a trial run. But I think MAC may have more pigment. Good luck!

Mac is high-pigment for sure, if you have one near you.
Dior is amazing, but there are only a few colors and it’s much pricier.
What you want to make sure to get is a eyeshadow primer, like the one by Urban Decay. Urban Decay also has high pigment shadows, but I don’t know how many of them are matte.
This company has great products (I use their HD foundation and their eyeliner), and they have matte high pigment shadows:

From Sephora, I like Urban Decay. Lots of their shadows have shimmer or glitter, but there are a few that are matte and pigmented. If you want your eyeshadow to stay all day, I would also pick up UD Primer Potion.

MAC, Aveda and Lancome are my favorites. I always do the smoky purple out because it brings out the green in my hazel eyes and those three have all been my favorite. When you go to Sephora tell them what you want, have them show you how to do it and then buy the products they use if you like the look. Or else have them show you how to do it and write down what they used and go to MAC, Lancome or Aveda and do the same until you find something you love.

I am also doing my own makeup, and will be using MAC. I love their eyeshadows because they blend really well and have a large variety of colors. Plus, they are pretty reasonable in pice. You may want to check out their counter:)

My makeup artist used MAC on me and the pigments were mindblowing. They have a great selection of colours and plenty of mattes.

Make up Forever and MAC have high pigmentation and they also have a large assortment of matte colors you can choose from.

Great! Thank you SO much!! I guess I will be dropping by the MAC counter as well today. 🙂
Stupid question…so I bought a primer for my entire face…can I use that for my eyes too or do I need to buy a specific primer for eye shadows? I feel so dumb…

@Lala61111: I would get a primer specifically for the eyelids. Smashbox photo finish lid primer and Urban Decay are really good. It will really help set the eyeshadow and make it stay on a good while without having to retouch it.

Mac is great but if you’re on a budget I suggest going for L’Oreal’s hip dual eyeshadow.
Coastal Scent’s eyeshadow palettes are pretty awesome, too.
I recently purchased Urban Decay’s Naked Palette and although it was a bit pricey, I think it’s pretty worth it.
It’s highly pigmented and so easy to travel with.

I echo everyone else– MAC!

Another vote for MAC here! Their foundation/powder makes me break out but their eyeshadows are awesome.
