I’ve come across many posts about how to build a backdrop stand and I have several different ideas for that part; but I can’t find any information on what types of fabric to use. I want something that drapes nicely, but isn’t see through. I want to layer the fabric so that I can crate swags and am considering a ligth shade of pink as the bottom layer and white for the top. Any information you guys can share would be greatly appreciated!

ladykah81 : You can use any fabric that you like the look of. What I usually do when decorating is go to the sale section of the fabric store and see what they have that suits the look or theme that I am going for. You can unroll a bolt of fabric and see how it drapes. Can you make nice rounded swags? Or, is it too stiff?
You can use burlap, canvas, or cotton for rustic; chiffon, tulle, organza for more elegant; or a combination for something in between.
Given that you want to have a different color for the base fabric and the overlay, you will need the top fabric to be sheer to allow the underlying color to show through.
