(Closed) Best favours you've had at a wedding?

I don’t remember all the weddings I’ve been to, maybe four or five in my lifetime.  I can only think of two favors that I’ve gotten.

Most recently we got a Woodwick reed air freshener.  We haven’t used it, because we’re not into those sorts of things, but it’s a very nice favor.

Before that, there were personalized votive holders/shot glasses with the couple’s names on them.  That marriage has not lasted, so I don’t know what to do with them. I don’t want to donate things with names to Goodwill, but I don’t want to keep votive holders for a defunct couple (and one that I wasn’t terribly fond of in the first place) around the house.

I guess you want to people to remember that they were at your wedding, but I don’t know if sticking your names/date on the favor is the way to go.

I love koozies! And edibles.  Anything plastic and kitschy gets left on the table.

A majority of guests leave the favors because they don’t want them.  I even leave the edibles.  No one really wants that stuff.  At least if you have edibles you can take them home and eat them yourself.

As a wedding guest I suggest skipping the favors and using the money for something else.  🙂

@surkim:  You should go ahead and donate. Someone may just want a votive or could use it for a craft product. You could also keep the votive holder with an emergency supply of candles in case your ppower goes out.

OP, best favor I received was a toss up between jordan almonds (because I really like them), a small bottle of wine, or a homemade magnet. The magnet was an Asian person in traditional dress, from the country where the bride and groom met (they were stationed together overseas). It was cute and still on the fridge after 15 years!

I  don’t think I’ve ever been excited about a wedding favor. I’ve gotten candles and shot glasses and mini pumpkins. My fiance likes edibles like candied apples or chocolates, but I’m not a sweets/chocoate person so I don’t usually care for what gest picked for favors. And I hate Jordan almonds. Ooh – I just thought of a favor I Iiked – one of my friends gave picture frames and had a picture download/print station so that you could print out your fav photo right there and put it in the frame!

Some of the worst :

Matchbooks. [So overdone, and I don’t even smoke. This was the ONLY favor they offered].

Another weddings “favor” was a personalized paper napkin from the cake. WTF?

Best ones were edible things, and I once got a lovely pair of flip flops [like not the cheap $1 kind].

I can’t remember a single wedding favor I cared for.  The one I found most touching was a donation made to endangered wildlife and there was information about the animals that were being protected, etc.  Everything else is pretty much a waste, even the candy or whatever.

@Emily_Louise_C:  At my cousins  or should I say my rich cousins wedding we got handmade artisan chocolates and a small Jo Malone candle so that was nice.

Worse ones would be a small plastic champagne glass with sugared almonds in it. I get that the almonds are symbolic but I wouldn’t eat them or display a plastic glass containing them in my home.

Photobooth pictures! They are still displayed and I like the memory.

The best favor was a photobooth.

I haven’t been to too many weddings and can’t say I’ve ever gotten anything tacky/terrible. Other than the photo booth I think I’ve just gotten candy.

Best: koozies, candy (specifically chocolate)

Worst: mini photo frames (never got around to using them because they were a weird size), candy (specifically those almond things? and fruit flavored candy canes)

Wash: wine bottle stoppers, really awesome idea but we left one in a bottle of wine for a while and it ended up corroding really badly so quality must not have been great

anything edible is always a hit!

best: pop champagne, gourmet chocolate covered pretzels, indian spices with recipe

worst: anything non-edible that has the Bride and Groom’s name and wedding date on them!

Best favors:  anything edible.  candies, mints, cookies.  can’t go wrong with food!!

Worst/weird: Peapod shaped candle.  It was cute in theory, but the damn thing looked like a vulva.  Completely grossed out many of the guests and it became the running joke of the night.
