I think tile might be the best option ( or marble [tiles/slabs]). Wooden floors can be and will be scratched by claws and carpet holds smells and can become very smelly even if your dog is always well groomed. Tile is pretty resistant to both and easy to clean 🙂 We have all three in our home so I have experience with my dog (pitbull). Hope this helps 🙂

lol I’m not gonna lie the only flooring that really works with does is linoleum.

Wood floors will scratch, especially in high traffic areas (like the doors or a major playing zone), but they can be refinished (within reason). AVOID BAMBOO its WAY too soft for dogs.

Tiles can be really slick for dogs and I worry about tile floors in a dog like a lab who is prone to ACL tears.

Carpet while its a pain because it gets dirty & furry is probably ok. We’ve never had probs with it.

Our high-end laminate (fake wood) floor is holding up great with our 45 pound dog. No scratches.

The only thing to watch out for is moisture.  She had a bladder infection once and peed on the floor, and it sat during the night until we woke to find it.  If you look close in that place the edges of the peice is a little off.

I agree that tile should be most reliable.

Definitely not wood.  My friend has a brand new house and her brand new wood floors look terrible from her dog.

We have carpet upstairs but we trained her not to come upstairs.

We have hardwoods, and our cocker spaniel and dachshund are destroying them! I can’t imagine what an active 45 lb dog would do! 🙂

A high grade laminate works great for dogs (and kids)…it doesn’t scratch at all and the good kind looks like real hardwood
