@Mrsderoo42614:  I am a makeup addict, I have tried or own pretty much every foundation you can think of.

I LOVE the makeup forever HD foundation for photography and an airbrushed effect, but it is medium coverage and I think it will not be enough to cover your acne. When I am really broken out it does not cover for me. The finish is beautiful, but NOT full coverage.

Kat Von D lock-it tattoo foundation is super full coverage, and works great as others have mentioned, but honestly you can find the same effect for a lot cheaper in Revlon Colorstay. I have tried nearly every foundation, I own about 20 different kinds of foundation, and I KEEP coming back to Revlon colorstay. It never fails me, full coverage, matte finish, stays on ALL day, and it’s cheap. Give it a try, it’s only $7-10!

No matter how nice of a foundation you have, it will not go on as nicely as it could if you don’t have a smooth base (skin). Make sure you exfoliate regularly, moisturize, and prime before your foundation. For primers I reccommend the monistat relief chafing gel (Trust me)….it has the exact same ingredients as smashbox photofinish primer, for only$5. I was using the smashbox primer before, and it works exactly the same. Do not use too much or it will have the opposite effect and make you oily. If you have large pores a great primer is Benefit’s Poreffesional primer…PAT it into pores and they dissapear..it is expensive but it is worth every penny and I have yet to find a cheaper alternative.

After finishing your full face of makeup, I recommend using a setting spray to make it last ALL day. I DO NOT use powders, I find they make my face look cakey. I use Urban decay’s chill makeup setting spray, they also make one for oily skin (to keep matte), and they have their “all nighter” version. These sprays are amazing and help “set” your makeup, and just make it look “better”…it acts the same as a powder by locking in your foundation and making it last ALL day long. There are many different brands of setting sprays but these are my favorite. ELF also makes a setting spray, it is a good everyday, cheaper alternative.

Good luck with your makeup! Remeber sephora will give you samples so TRY out as MUCH as you can and see what works for YOU. Also revlon colorstay never fails me.

lol I could go on and on all day about makeup…I will shutup now.

Hope I helped, and good luck!   🙂

@lilchicana:, go ahead and cover with makeup for now, but you can fade those scars. there are many acid-based products that can help, and they tend to help with acne as well. she recommended benzoyl peroxide, which I personally can’t use. it’s too drying, and dryness makes my breakouts even worse. but everybody’s different.

I had really great results with an alpha hydroxy lotion (neutrogena healthy skin). the skin turnover it causes helps with scars and acne, while making my skin softer instead of drying it out.  it’s not good to use if you have extremely sensitive skin, but for those with normal skin, acids are really great products! alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy, lactic acid are three good ones. or get a prescription for a good retin-a or retinol.

if you want your scars to fade really fast, consider getting a professional chemical peel. they’ll work much faster than any of the OTC face creams.

@Mrsderoo42614:  +1 for Dermablend.  I’m a professional musician and this is the only thing I can use that has the magical combination of covering very well, staying the right color, not breaking me out and staying put through all my sweating on stage!

My absolute favorite concealer for both facial concealing AND under eye circles is NARS radiant creamy concealer. The coverage is impeccable, yet it looks very natural.

@Mrsderoo42614:  I use a bb cream and then just normal spot concealer+powder. I love bb cream, for me it really covers my skin and bends much better than foundation ever did and its less heavy. I had acne always around my chin/jaw and mouth, and have some scars. ( wah) It covers really well and I personally sometimes only use the BB cream and nothing else and I feel confident ( I would say I have moderatly BAD skin)

I would go to Sephora for a trial. They have that great pantone matching system (can’t believe how spot-on my new concealer and foundation are), and theeir staff is pretty awesome at finding the right products (at least at my mall they are)
