if you enlarge the middle diamond make sure the sides are also enlarged… so that its not huge with tiny stones next to it… but i think that is beautiful how it is…

@lovebugfouts:  if you enlarge the middle diamond make sure the sides are also enlarged… so that its not huge with tiny stones next to it    <—- This is what I was going to say.  You want the stones to be in proportion.  What a stunning ring, by the way!

What size finger does she have? A 1.2 ct. center stone with sides is a whole lot of sparkely. my ring is 1.5 and I sometimes feel that it swallows my whole finger but I have pretty small hands and no side stones. I think it is lovely as it is.

Another thought, what does she do for a living, if he upgraded the center stone it might have to be placed higher which could make it difficult for any job that requires gloves, working with food, textiles, or small children.

I am obviously never against a larger stone, but make sure these things are taken in to consideration

@lovebugfouts:  Agreed… A larger center stone with the current side stones wouldn’t look quite right…

@globalmargaret:  Also agree – you should definitely take finger size into consideration… And I also chose a smaller center stone so that my ring wouldn’t sit so far off of my hand.  My brother picked quite a large ring for my SIL and she loved it, but once she had kids, she ended up getting the ring reset… Her diamond was scratching her daughter.  It was disappointing for her to have to change the ring that her Darling Husband had picked out for her… So you want to take that into consideration too

Very pretty ring! I dont know if it’s necessary to enlarge the side stones – all depends on whether you think she’d like a 3 stone ring or just some accents. As for not being scammed by a jeweler, we had the same worry and went with a recommendation. Perhaps ask some friends or their moms if they’ve had any jewelry made.

Gorgeous ring.  Do you know how big the center stone is now?

and I’m all for photoshopping the right size stone (make sure its on a ring the same size so you don’t skew the proportions) onto the ring to see how it would look.  But yeah,,, if you’re gonna change the middle stone you probably want to change all three, at which point maybe you would just want to get a setting and then get the diamonds..
