Maui! Such a great place for a honeymoon. Lots to do but you can also totally relax on the beach or by the pool if that’s what you want to do. We went there for 8 days and to Kauai for 6. Really enjoyed both but loved Maui the most.

For my husband and I our ideal place was somewhere with overwater bungalows. We can do the US, Mexico, caribbean, europe, etc anytime but Bora Bora or the Maldives was somewhere we didn’t think we would go once/if we have kids.

We’re going to Moon Palace, an all-inclusive in Cancun. It has great reviews on Trip Advisor and came to only $4200 for a week including direct flights, ocean view room, honeymoon package, and $1500 in  resort credit

Hubs and I went to Sandals Grande Antigua and it was AMAZING. Seriously could not recommend it more highly. We are adventurous and thought about doing something more out of the ordinary, but I am so glad we went the route of “beach and drink” because after the wedding I was ready to relax! We did go ziplining, ATVing and on a speedboat around the island so we definitely got our adventuring in, but also had the spa (I still have dreams about that couples massage) and PLENTY of alcohol/food.

Ideal for me is plopping my butt down in the sand on a warm beach with no schedule to follow and no snow in sight. So we’re going back to Couples Sans Souci in Jamaica which is the first place we went on vacation together two years ago.

We’re doing a South Pacific cruise to the Cook and Society islands in April. We love all things tropical and exotic and since there were so many islands we wanted to check out in the South Pacific, we decided to do several of them!:) we have to fly to LAX from NYC, but airfare to and from LAX/Tahiti plus our cruise (all inclusive) is about $13,000

We did 3 weeks in Hawaii and it was AMAZING. We went a few years before our wedding to celebrate my 24th birthday (not a bad gift from my always thoughtful husband) and when it came time to plan the honeymoon, knew we wanted to go back. We’re pretty adventurous and we’re fortunate to have traveled to many places together, overseas and in the US. After a year of wedding planning, we wanted nothing more than relaxation, some hiking/adventure, and being in the US. Hawaii is truly the perfect mix of all. We spent 1 week in Maui, 1 week in Kauai, and 1 week in Oahu. It was our first time on Maui & Kauai and I really, really, really think everyone looking for relaxation & sun absolutely should consider these two.

Also, if it helps, we went in September which was perfect because all the families are back home since the kids are back in school and it’s mostly adults on vacation. We met a lot of amazing people!

catchyscreenname:  I second St. Lucia! We’re going in early May, and found a really good deal on a couples-only AI called Rendezvous.

Bonus (IMO) of going that time of year is their Jazz Festiva! I think it starts on April 30th this year. This year one of the headliners is Robin Thicke and another person playing is Flo Rida. I’m not a rap fan and the idea of seeing Flo Rida in the middle of my honeymoon in paradise makes me giggle.

also Rendezvous includes free scuba diving, and you can pay a for better dives! Darling Husband is already certified and I got a groupon to get certified here before we go. You can also get certified there (for a fee) but I don’t want to spend any of my honeymoon in a classroom lol.

catchyscreenname:  Paul Gaugin.

Here is the link for the cruise line with all of their itineraries: http://www.pgcruises.com/

Here is the link for our specific itinerary: http://www.pgcruises.com/destinations/itineraries/11-night

We didn’t book directly through Paul Gaugin because I found it cheaper with an agent with all of their offers. She has been amazing throughout the past year of planning since we booked it. Her name is Bonnie Philbrick and she works for Avoya Travel

Paul Gaugin also has an awesome facebook page where they/their guests post pictures of their cruises. I’ve been following them for a year and I’m sooo excited.

Darling Husband and I are not beach people, so we went to Alaska for our honeymoon! It was amazing. We saw gigantic glaciers, hiked through forests, saw moose, bear poop, road a train, road in helicopters, saw whales, saw eagles, kayaked on the ocean, played with jellyfish, chased porcupines, spent the night on an island with a handful of other people (Fox Island, look it up, it is BEAUTIFUL!), and overall just got to be ourselves.

The spots we stayed in were not huge tourist traps, nor were they “normal” honeymoon locations so for us it was fantastic because when people would ask what we were celebrating they would be so awed that we chose Alaska for our honeymoon and usually this meant great discounts (where ever you go, mention you’re on your honeymoon!). Also take a journal and write down what you’re doing each day and for God’s sake turn off your cell phone and leave it off!!

Best of luck!

(Edit: the other best thing? It didn’t cost us an arm and a leg to go!)

Fiance is the more adventourous of the two, I’m happy with sun sand and cocktails ! We decieded on Fiji…we can scuba dive/snorkle as well as zip line etc. A little adventure a little paradise! We can’t wait! Hoping for all to go well in September for us! Good luck choosing a location 🙂
