When my mom and I were dress shopping, it was hard to find dresses that we both liked. She said my taste was gaudy and busy, I said hers was frumpy and old fashioned. But, when I tried on the Enzoani Erin, we BOTH fell in love. Super excited. Love this dress.
But…….. Something in my heart mourned the death of my sparkly ballgown dreams! Early on in my dress shopping adventures I had the privilege of trying on the Allure c170. I LOVED it! So, naturally, my mother hated it. But when I tried on this dress, magic happened! It sparkles like a disco ball and is so ridiculouly over the top. That dress was PERFECT for me. Buy my dreams of looking tasteful and elegant trumped my dreams of looking like a princess dipped in glitter. It was a choice that had to be made. And I have never doubted that choice.
Yesterday was a bad day. I looked at my beloved c170 on other brides and secretly cursed them out for being able to wear MY dress. They all looked fabulous!!! Not gaudy or over the top at all. I began to wonder if I should just go out and buy the c170 to wear to my reception. I was planning on wearing Ines Di Santo’s Cielo(it’s a short, form-fitting, sparkly dress) however THIS was even better. But I couldn’t wear TWO big gowns, could I? … … … No… I couldn’t. I shouldn’t! I wouldn’t!!! … Who am I kidding, yes I would. But it would definitely be frowned upon. It would be different if the skirt was DETACHABLE. Then I could wear it as a ballgown for a moment and then whip off the skirt for the big reveal of a minidress underneath! But that’s impossible!!! Or IS it?
An idea was born.
I frantically looked up Jasmine’s Bridal Shop and drafted the fastest email I have ever written. I explained what I was looking for and sent it off, determined not to get my hopes up. I heard from them today.
THEY CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!
They can make me a two piece dress that looks exactly like the c170! The skirt will be able to detach and will reveal a minidress underneath. The minidress will continue in the same pattern as the beading on the bodice of the c170. I don’t even know if I’m making any sense, I’m so excited!
So… I’ll be able to enter our reception wearing a dress that looks like my beloved C170. But after our first dance, I will whip off the skirt and reveal the most rockin party dress ever.Â
They can’t get started on it yet because they are booked till April. I’ll add pics to this post as soon as I have some. :)Â
So. Excited. I know you can’t tell since I’m all calm and whatnot. I just thought this was perfect news to share with the Hive!
