Devil’s Millhopper!  Absolutely beautiful.

There’s a trail that goes around the top of the sink hole, about a half mile long. The sink hole itself is several stories deep.   Perfect place for a jog or picnic.

From the State Park website: “In the midst of north Florida’s sandy terrain and pine forests, a bowl-shaped cavity 120 feet deep leads down to a miniature rain forest. Small streams trickle down the steep slopes of the limestone sinkhole, disappearing through crevices in the ground. Lush vegetation thrives in the shade of the walls even in dry summers. A significant geological formation, Devil’s Millhopper is a National Natural Landmark that has been visited by the curious since the early 1880s.”

It’s crazy how many people around here have never heard of it!  I think it’s amazing, not like anything you’d expect to see here.  And I wont commit on that other school 😉

I guess Detroit itself. Everyone outside of here believes the media and thinks its a dump. It isn’t… Our MGM is nicer than the one in Vegas!

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat:  Yep! We have 3 casinos, tons of cultural/art buildings & it’s very ethnic. Within a few miles there is Greektown, Mexicantown & Corktown. Of course Comerica Park is one of the nicest stadiums in the business… Oh and Whole Foods opens downtown June 5.

@deetroitwhat:  I’m excited for the whole foods! And I don’t know if it counts as a secret but the DIA is very cool.

@Wonderstruck:  Love the DIA. And glad they reopened the science center. Cannot wait for Whole Foods! The one in Troy is eh. Plus I am excited for Mr. Gilbert’s plans!

This tends to freak out-of-towners out a bit:

“But what draws visitors to the Whispering Wall is its unique acoustic effects: words whispered at one side can be clearly heard at the other, more than 100 metres away. Children in particular love visiting the wall and testing its abilities.”

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat:  Sorry, I should’ve specified, didn’t even think about it since I know the other poster is from Detroit! It stands for the Detroit Institute of Arts.

If I told you it wouldn’t be secret anymore.
