@Mint2Bee:  I have super oily skin. When I wear makeup I either use Bare Minerals “bare esscentuals” (no idea why they spell it that way) powder, which is really nice and soaks up the grease, or Laura Mercier’s oil-free tinted moisturizer. On my wedding day, I went wild and wore a light layer of both, and my skin stayed matte the whole night.

I use a Benefit liquid one-hello flawless, its probably got more of a medium coverage but I also use is light pressed powder over the top for shine reduction. I find the lasting power if the foundation is good but I have to top up the powder on my nose if I’m going for an all day event

You should try out a BB cream! I don’t have oily skin, but have friends with many different skin combos, and everyone I know loves BB cream. I use Dr. Jart, you can get a sample from sephora.

If your skin has been really oily, I’d first use a silicon-based primer. There are fancy kinds, but in my experience, the L’Oreal Studio Secrets is just as good as the Smashbox/Mac/MUFE/Laura Mercier that I’ve used.

I second the BB cream if you’re just looking for light/natural coverage.  I have combo skin and use Tarte and love it!  It covers just as well as a foundation without the make-up feel and doesn’t melt off.  If I want more coverage (more for going out/evening/events) I’ll add a litte bit of MUFE HD foundation.

@stillme:

@Mint2Bee:  That’s what I was going to recommend. I have combo skin that’s mostly oily, but it drys out during the winter.

So Bare whatever-you-call-it looks great on me

I like Dr. Jart’s BB cream.  Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua feels amazing.

I have a Neutrogena primer and use Revlon photo stay on top. My skin is very oily, and the REvlon has a “dewy” finish that I could probably do without haha. But I like my primer! It definitely helps “anti-shine” even with the dewy foundation.

I agree with Distracts: use a a silicon-based primer that will absorb all the oil and make your face look matte for hours. I recommend Avon Magix Perfector (when it’s on sale it’s only $7). I have oily skin and this makes my skin look perfect. Usually I don’t even need foundation after I apply the primer, that’s how effective it is.

@Mint2Bee:  you might like a mattefing cream like Urban Decay De-Slick in a Tube. You apply it before foundation to absorb excess oil then foundation.
