I’m trying to look for a foundation that I can wear daily, and maybe even to our wedding in January 2015. The problem is that I hate the way that most foundations feel heavy on my skin, and my skin reacts badly to certain cosmetics ingredients (mainly most silicones and bismuth oxychloride) that are commonly found in a lot of traditional and even mineral foundations. My skin is mainly combination, with surface dryness in winter and it’s slightly more normal in summer. I don’t have many blemishes, but I do have some acne scarring and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks that could use a little more coverage, so something buildable would be good.
My skin is pale with mostly neutral undertones, though it looks slightly cooler toned in winter and slightly warmer toned in summer. I was recently colour matched to the Alabaster shade in Bobbi Brown, and occasionally wear Lily Lolo mineral foundation in Blondie or China Doll (depending on the time of year) or the lightest shade of the Kielhs Clearly Corrective BB cream. However, I’m not happy enough with either of the bases I sometimes wear to really wear either on the regular.
If anyone has any recommendations, I’d be really appreciative of them all!

I actually really like Pur Minerals mineral makeup for an everyday foundation. It is super light and clean feeling and very gentle to your skin. Just go to Ulta anad get them to color match you! I also use the Pur minerals concealer for areas I need a little more coverage.
I used Estee Lauder Double Wear Light for my wedding day. It’s heavier but photographs well.
ETA: I have also used Bare Minerals, but I prefer Pur…..

I’m a vampire and I have to say that normally I hate powder foundation but Bare Minerals Matte powerd foundation makes me look flawwwwwless. I discovered it a year ago and I’m never looking back. I use Fairly Light in the summer because it has just a tiny bit of tint. It’s good for neutral undertones. I’m cool but it still works for me

I love my Garnais BB cream. It’s a tinted moisturizer, and the one for oily skin (I have combo/dry skin) has a beautiful matte finish that doesnt dry out my skin.

Have you tried a tinted moisturizer?

gelaine22: I have, but a lot of the brands available in my neck of the woods are either too dark or contain loads of silicones which make my skin go haywire if I wear it for more than a day.

I don’t wear much on a daily basis as far as complexion (just a powder compact), but I will be using MUFE HD liquid foundation + hourglass primer for our wedding. I’m quite fair with lots of dark freckles/beauty marks and I didn’t want the foundation to look like I was trying to cover them up! MUFE is perfect and is definitely build-able. I wear their lightest shade #110. I’m pretty fair, but depending HOW fair you are they might not be light enough. But worth checking out!

Laululintu: I like the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer if I go that route. You can order it online at Sephora. I still think Pur Minerals is the way to go. I am fair. I love it. I get a prettier coverage than I did with Bare Minerals, and it is much less messy! It feels amazing on my skin!

Laululintu: I always recommend Laura Mercier. Do you have a Nordstrom or Sephora anywhere near you? It’s worth a trip to one of those stores.

I loooooove Bare Minerals! I’ve used it for years and it always makes my skin look perfect! I know they are coming out with a new liquid to powder foundation. I haven’t tried it yet but maybe that could work as well?

The ‘face and body’ formulas from Mac and MUFE are very liquid and light. Much lighter and liquider than other foundations i tried on. They are buildable so they can achieve a medium coverage by layering if needed. But on a daily basis one layer is enough for a light coverage. It feels like water on the face (it actually has much more water than others and the MUFE one is waterproof, by the way). I work as a makeup artist on beauty and special effects makeup 😉

gelaine22: Unfortunately there aren’t any Nordstroms on the continent, and even the European Sephoras are several countries away.

BunnyJaques: I’ll visit my local Mac counter and give F&B another look and look into finding a local supplier of MUFE 🙂

SkinnyLatte17: I’m waiting for them to launch it in my area, but I’ll definitely look into it when I can get my greedy paws on it.
