I’m undecided on this issue. I’ve been trying some if the long wear drugstore lipsticks,  you know,  the ones that take 2 steps and the maybelline one is my fav,  but it can still wear off funny by the end of the day.

Honestly,  my sister bought me a Lipsense kit as a wedding present and it really is better than the drugstore ones. It applies in several thin layers and doesn’t go rubbery as it wears off like the drug store ones .I’m not saying it lasts all day,  but it does look good even when wearing off. I’m currently trying to decide if I want to buy another.

Now if you want a low cost lip product that stains your lips, I absolutely love the Absolute NY Glossy Lip Stain.  It stains my lips and wears evenly for hours, but not all day lip the 2 step lip colors.

If you want long lasting, you will have to splurge a little bit. Sephora has several options for 8+ hour wear liquid lipsticks, and plenty of cruelty-free options if that is an issue for you as well. My go-to brands are Kat Von D, Tarte, and Anastasia Beverly Hills. The consultants can give you tips for applying to make sure you look flawless and the color doesn’t fade or smudge

taylor19 :  I highly recommend Bésame lipsticks; beautiful vintage-inspired colors and truly long lasting. Among their colors:

Not a good advertisement for lipsense if a seller doesn’t want to wear it on their wedding day. :/

I like the wear and look of MAC and Kat Von D, especially what I think is called their studded kiss lipstick… it is perfect for me. I don’t reapply all day and it doesn’t dry my lips out.

claroquesi :  OMG, what divine packaging- off to google the heck out of that lipstick! OMG, just back from looking, so going to buy a lipstick and their violet powder NOW.

taylor19 :  I have done many weddings and the product I recommend most and used most was ‘prolongerwear lipstick’ by MAC. You apply the color once and then carry around the little clear tube that comes off with you in your dress for touch ups throughout the day but the color doesn’t come off even through drinking, kissing, etc. It lasts 12 HRS.

Unfortunately, it looks like they dont carry it anymore but I found this link where you can buy it:

You can also check out other similar products at the drug store I recommend Revlon as their quality is high.

And go for neutral with a pop tones.

I hope this helps!

I must have tried like 10 different lipsticks and lipstains of various brands in the shades I was interested in and none of them (except one MAC lipstick) was a “fancy” brand. None of them worked. I also used some of the Revlon 24hr color stay lipstains a few times, and that one dried out my lips so badly that they cracked and scabbed in one spot.  My HMUA told me that the longer they advertise the color stay power, the more alchohol is in it and that can happen if they are used too much. But even though that particular stain does have stay power, it does that and it also dries right away (literally within seconds) and is near impossible to fix as soon as you apply it if you need to.

My HMUA ended up using a Rimmel London lipstain she had on hand (can get it at a drugstore, or Target or Walmart), and it stayed ALL NIGHT LONG, literally. I ended up falling asleep with my makeup on that night and the next day it still was there (with minimal fading). There was no transfer or dryness of my lips at all.

I don’t sell it, just love it. Lipsense has my vote. I would say get some a month or two before your wedding to start wearing it, perfect the application, and get your lips over the ‘exfoliating’ period so people experience. This stuff can really show off lip wrinkles, but after I used it everyday for a couple weeks, my lips were noticeably smoother, it was crazy! I’d say over half the natural lip wrinkles were gone, and my lips felt almost slightly plumper (possibly from being more moisturized?) and so soft and supple.

I honestly don’t sell the stuff, just really really love it. Like, 20+ colours love it 😂🙈 I’ll be wearing it on my big day for sure

taylor19 :  I wear red lips almost every day and by far, hands down the BEST long wear product I have found is Lip Ink. I don’t sell it (wish I did so I could have more of it). It’s not cheap but IMO worth it. I have tried a lot of popular high-end liquid lipsticks and they don’t compare. For your bridal portraits or closeup photos of your face a true lipstick or liquid lipstick may be better,  but for true kiss proof, all day wear the answer is Lip Ink. You have to buy a three piece kit: cleanser, moisturizer, and color. I can’t make a color recommendation unless you want red. I wear Energy Red almost every day. Oh- and it’s vegan and all natural in case that’s important to you.

Colourpop. Hands down.

Their matte lips wear through EVERYTHING. I’m telling you straight up I’ve had to wipe my lipstick off after the end of the day because IT DIDNT COME OFF. Through eating and everything.

Order is online only but I seriously love the stuff so much I highly believe it’s worth it.
