shouldnt be a problem, those pics are just slacks with vests (I am doing something similar myself)  Just dont require a jacket and he should be cool- although if he is really shy maybe just a being a groomsmen rather than the best man- much smaller spot light.

Your inspiration images aren’t tuxes, they’re suits with vests – problem solved.

Went to a wedding recently with a socially anxious best man… he did great.
Cut his own speech off short, but it was still fantastic and he put in a good effort (with a couple of really funny and appropriate props)

If he’s not into the spotlight maybe he shouldn’t have signed up to be the best man?  What’s he going to think when you tell him he’s going to have to be in pictures and other related duties….?

What does he want to wear?

Apparently, he is not being asked to wear a tux or even a suit.

If he’s old enough to be married himself, he’s old enough to suck it up and wear a vest and pants to his best friend’s wedding.

What does he want to wear – shorts and a t-shirt?  What you’re asking him to wear isn’t fancy at all.

@anhelms:  You are likely correct. The word tux may have scared him, but what you showed in your pics isn’t anywhere close to a tuxedo in formality.

Your pics show a vest and pants, not a suit. Have you told him that you are thinking of a vest and pants? Or shown him a pic?

Your pics are very casual..if the tie scares him off. Ditch it. Put a hanky in vest pocket for some color.

@anhelms:  I wouldn’t consider jeans and button downs just for one person. I know he means a lot to you but I wouldn’t change the look of my whole wedding so one person stays comfortable. Maybe after the ceremony he can change?

Btw i looooove your inspiration pics!

@anhelms:  I think your Fiance should say something like, “It is important for us to have the guys in these suits. We’ve been friends for 25 years. Can’t you do this for me?”

Your fiance should also offer to pay for the suit hire. It’s pretty hard for the guy to refuse under those circumstances, I would suggest.
