It’s adorable that you are taking the time to do this for your BFF. The only slipper suggestion I would have is that they should have rubber/non-slip soles – especially if your friend has wooden floors.

As for scents and even tastes (those ginger candies) – flat out ask her (or her partner) what has been irritating her lately. What might be tasty or soothing for one person might be totally different for your BFF. Also, what she might have loved pre pregnancy she might now hate! Hormones are a bitch.

I was going to say the same exact thing as thenextmrsi, get slippers that are non-slip soles. Maybe look into getting her a gift certificate for a maternity store or a spa to get a pedicure or what not.

EDubbs:  You’re such a good friend! The thing with anything scented/edible is that is varies greatly from person to person. I would ask her and trust me, she’ll appreciate you asking 🙂

I got a box of teas and massage oils and a voucher to a spa for massages. By far, the massages were the best gift I received.

thenextmrsi:  Definitely non-slip! This is very good advice.

EDubbs:  I hated ginger candies.  I’d do some recon with her partner to find out what is working for her (for me it was jolly ranchers).  Scents were mostly ok for me (good ones at least).  But lotions and creams were irritating, even things that I’ve used for years.  I had to switch everything to scent free and as natural as possible.  This is such a cute gift, your enthusiasm is awesome!

This is so sweet of you! Darling Husband got my these Ugg slippers when I was pregnant and they were amazing- great to wear around the house and perfect for walking the hospital halls while I was in labor http://www.uggaustralia.com/womens-slippers/scuffette-ii/5661.html?dwvar_5661_color=CHE#start=5&cgid=womens-slippers

It’s so hard to predict what smells/flavors will be unpleasant- and it changes all the time! I suggest you just get something that you think smells good.

Oh my gosh…you are the sweetest. I don’t have any advice on the slippers, but I just wanted to say it’s nice you’re making her a care package. My mom sent me one with preggie pops, pregnancy sea bands, assorted essential oils (which was awesome because I got to see which scents I prefered), and a pregnancy pillow.

What a nice gift!! I would love those slippers before my fall baby is due 🙂 Yes, pregnant ladies can get prenatal massages, typically places will do them after the first trimester. I would have loved everything in your little basket. Peppermint tea also helped my nausea. One of my favorite gifts I got in my early pregnancy is a teething necklace (a necklace I can wear now but is also safe for baby to chew on when he is teething- they sell them online and I’ve seen them at BuyBuyBaby). You could also find a pregnancy journal!

It won’t fit in a basket, but the absolute BEST thing I got was a pregnancy pillow (link below). Being someone who usually sleeps on my stomach, this was an absolute must for comfort. You could also fill up the empty space in your basket with newborn or size 1 diapers.

EDubbs:  I had no need for a seaband because I barely had any nausea. Depending on your friend’s condition it may or may not be necessary. Yes – You can get a special prenatal massage – generally less pressure, and the places that offer them have special tables or table toppers that allow the belly to hang free.

CaptainSpaulding:  I second that pillow! Hubby even likes to steal one end of it while I’m using it. Nights that I don’t use it for whatever reason he’s like “Where’s your pillow? Put it back” LOL

EDubbs:  Yes and prenatal massages are amazing! Almost every spa that does regular massages will have a therapist who is experienced in prenatal massages. I’ve started gettin one a month and they help so much with the random pains, bloating, swelling and all the funny things that happen to your body.

Seabands didn’t work for me or anyone I know. Again, I’d ask her – preggie pops worked for me with controlling nausea.

If you do decide to get a pregnancy pillow, the Snoogle is amazing. I’ve had it since I was 8 weeks pregnant and it helps me sleep every night. My hubby got it on amazon.
