First off, Amora and Forever one are types of moissanite. Asha is CZ. Colorless is an attribute found in all these stones.

So really your list is diamond, moissanite, and CZ. If you are ok w/ your stone getting a little scuffed up (if you’re not careful w/ it obviously) and you are planning to upgrade in a few years anyway, I would get a CZ. You can look around various threads for where to find quality CZ but I hear that Chris CZ and Wink CZ are the best.

If you would rather your stone not have a risk of scratching like CZ does and are willing to spend a little more money up front, I would get a moissanite. I wouldn’t reccomend an Amora gem, as from what I can tell they are very overpriced and they have waiting lists a mile long for their round stones. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an emerald cut one on the boards. I have an emerald moissanite from MoissaniteCo. They sell Forever One and that comes in near colorless or colorless, just like diamonds. I have an offbrand Forever One that they sourced before Forever One was officially a thing. It’s the same material, just without the brand name.

I LOVE my stone and I have only had one person actually accuse me of it not looking like a diamond and the words she chose were “it’s too sparkly” as if that was a bad thing haha.

With that said, if you’re not comfortable owning the fact that you have a CZ or a moissanite and being proud of that, then you should just get a diamond. It’s your ring, you should love it. If you aren’t going to love it because it’s not a diamond, then you should get what you love and get a smaller diamond to cut costs.

Here’s my 8×6 (1.5 ct equiv) emerald cut moissanite!

adding to what ElephantAndTheFlea :  said, if a typical diamond of the size you are looking for is not currently in the budget I’d recommend looking at loose stones on Etsy, the lower clarity and colored ones can be cheaper than moissanite and then if someone asks you can honestly say that it’ a diamond. Here’s one in approx the right measurements, but people may not look at it and instantly know it’ a diamond https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/557067636/50-off-mega-sale-166tcw-84-x-60-x-30-l-x so it’ a matter of what matters to you more, that it looks like a diamond while not actually being one, or that it is a diamond thought it may not look like the diamond most people are used to seeing.

I’m partial to the emerald cut moissanites that have windmills, so JYB’s ENV stone and Harro Gem. Port City Jewelers also has their own brand they cut with windmills, but it appears their return policy is not the greatest.

I was going to pop in and tell “EMERALD!” But I see now that you’re asking only about clear stones. Would you consider getting a gemstone now and then upgrading to a diamond? That way, you don’t have to stress about the non-diamond accusation and when the time comes to upgrade, you can still wear your original on your right hand if you wanted to.

I think moissanites are super pretty but I don’t think that emerald cut moissanites look like emerald cut diamonds at all. There are way too many colors and sparkles going on. I think CZ would be better if you’re planning to imitate a diamond.
