I am currently obese and working on my health for hopes of getting pregnant in the near future. I have never been regular with my cycle but so far for the past 3 months, I have had a regular period. I am trying to take all measures to get myself healthy before trying to concieve and I am wondering everyones opinions on the best prenatal vitamin to start taking. Thanks!!

I like the Nature Made brand prenatals. It’s what I have used both pregnancies plus before/after both As well.

My OB recommends Profutura

I take Target brand gummy vitamins since I can’t take vitamins with iron. Everything else in them is the same as the pill vitamins but you get the bonus of them tasting good!

I take VitaFusion prenatal gummy vitimins bc my OB approved and vitimin pills… make me puke!

I second the Nature Made prenatals with iron. I used to take the VitaFusion gummies but found they made me more nauseous in the first trimester. (But they tasted good before then!)

I second the VitaFusion gummies! My OB also said they are fine but she recommends that I also take a little extra folic acid since the gummies only have 800mcg and 1000mcg is the recommended dosage from my doc. So I just take an extra 400mcg haha

I’m taking the smartypants prenatal gummies. 6 gummies a day… as a perk I noticed my nail an hair have looked awesome since I started them

Right now I take Adult Essentials (Women’s gummy). I contacted the company asking if they are coming out with a PreNatal…and they are…NEXT SPRING! I’m super pumped for this. These gummies are amazing (it’s like candy! haha) I have a hard time swallowing pills so these will be great! Since we aren’t TTC yet I’m just having the Women’s gummy.

My OB recommended the Enfamil brand vitamins and DHA capsules. I took those at the beginning of my pregnancy and they made me SO nauseous and constipated (sorry, TMI). So I now take the One A Day prenatal plus DHA (it’s 1 purple capsule) and they are a lot easier on my stomach.

If you don’t mind spending a bit more I recommend the Garden of Life Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal. It has folate instead of folic acid (folic acid is the synthetic version of folate). It also contains a blend of organic fruits and vegetables. It’s never given me a stomach ache or any other side effect.

Agreed. I’ve tried a few, including Garden of Life and Raibow Light, and the non-fancy Naturemade ones are the ones I like the best so far! Apologies if someone has already posted this, but here’s WebMD’s nitty gritty guide to choosing a good prenatal vitamin:

I use NatureMade as well, and those are the ones my OB recommended.

I like the Rainbow Light mini pills, they are super easy on the stomach. The VitaFusion gummies made me sick.

I love the Smarty Pants gummies too! They are also folate instead of folic acid and do not have iron in them. They are also delicious which helps.
