Just wondering if anyone had suggestions on the best type of pens/sharpies to use on a photo guestbook… I had the book made from Photoworks.com if anyone is familiar, however I’m concerned with smudging if I use a gel pen or anything like that… My mom says it has to "look" fancy, I say it has to "work" well! Your suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

Some type of sharpie would probably work best. They come in all sorts of colors. Try the ink out on the corner of a page with a dark spot in the picture (so it’s not noticeable) to make sure it works. I can imagine gel pens would smudge, and a ballpoint pen would dent the pages.
Why don’t you decorate a sharpie with some ribbon and fake flowers? Then it would be cute and serviceable! Wrap the ribbon around the shaft of the pen with the stem of the flower underneath to hold it in place. Use hot glue to keep everything together. Good luck!

Probably a writing pen such as ones used for addressing invitations would work well.
For example: http://www.target.com/Calligraphy-Primary-Pens/dp/B00020SEQA/sr=1-21/qid=1227716365/ref=sr_1_21/178-3900131-3868034?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Apen&page=1
I think your best bet is to test it on a similar paper before committing to any particular instrument.

Aaron Brothers have a variety of different types of pen. I’ve bought some acid-free ink pens there to use for signing on archival sign-in book.
