Check with your caterer to see if they know a wholesaler that will deliver.  My caterer recommended a place that delivers, and will pick up extra alcohol and credit me for any unopened bottles.

Any military friends with access to the PX/BX/Exchange?  We’re getting duty free from the Navy base through my stepdad who’s retired Navy.

I would check Sams Club, Costco, and Trader Joes for affordable options.  You could also see if there are any local craft brews in your area and get a keg of that.

+1 on @abbie017‘s suggestion to find a local place that will deliver.  We found a tiny wine and beer shop here in town.  The owner sat down with us and helped us figure out how much alcohol we needed (including liquor), what brands to buy based on our budget and our guest list, where to buy the liquor cheaply, etc.  He’s delivering our beer and wine to the venue 2 days before the wedding.  We’re driving out of state to pick up the liquor this weekend and will drop that off at the venue ourselves.

I know people who have had good luck with Two Buck Chuck from Trader Joes. I wasn’t able to make it to their wedding, because they live far away, but apparently the wine’s actually pretty decent. And it goes for $1.99-$3.39 a bottle, so you WILL NOT beat the price. She said they put them in decanters and no one had any complaints.

Bev mo.  Good prices and they will allow you to return unopened bottles

This may or may not be a concern for you but if you have any left over alcohol and want to return any unopened bottles find out what their policy is.

We over bought many bottles of hard alcohol and when we tried to return it to Costco they wouldn’t accept it. I had misinformation and was very surprised when we tried to take it back, Oh well…. lesson learned.

Do you have a BevMo? We got all of our wine from the Buy One, Get One for 5 Cents sale going on right now. I was able to get some very nice wine with high points for essentially 50% off.

For everything else, such as beer and liquor, we went to Costco. Beers, after tax and fees, come out to about $1/bottle for the “nicer” brands, such as Stella or Newcastle, and the liquor is pretty cheap too and there’s Costco-branded ones too.

@Mrs.babycat:  Thanks for the information re: BevMo’s return policy! I didn’t even think to check.

We did the 5 cent wine sale at Bevmo for Wine & Champagne and it worked out great…BUT it ended on Monday (the 16th) I think they do it a couple times a year, so there’ll probably be another one before your wedding though! It made me really happy that I was able to get a $10 bottle of wine for the $5/bottle budget I had given myself!
