Hey Bees! I have a handful of weddings and baby/wedding showers to get through before the baby is born. My first shower is looming near and I am looking for the best place to buy/order something fancy to wear to the parties. They range from casual to black tie formal. I need help quick! Any suggestions?

For your more casual stuff, Target has some NICE materinity stuff for cheap, IMO.

I found that the dresses at motherhood were sufficiently dressy for showers and that kind of thing, but am definitely having trouble finding more fancy stuff. Like, we’re cruising next week, and I’m pretty sure I’m just skipping the formal nights, because I could find NOTHING remotely formal. So, I’m curious to see what others have to say about this!
I’ve seen stuff at Nordstrom but thought it was kinda pricy, and heard good things about ASOS but also that their sizes run a little smaller than I’d likely fit into.

For something really formal, I would try the bridesmaid sections of Alfred Angelo or David’s bridal- they both carry maternity lines that could work as formal gowns as well as bridesmaid dresses. You could also look for an empire waisted gown in a regular store, that would accomodate a growing belly.

I like http://www.isabellaoliver.com
it’s only online unfortunately but the quality is amazing. The price is palatable if there is some sale going on… to me, it’s in the same price range as pea in the pod but looks so much better.

Have you checked out Asos? They have some great maternity dresses for good prices and they have free shipping. The only downside is that they are online retailers only so you can’t try anything on.

@nikkialys: Good suggestion, I didn’t even think of these stores!
I have a formal wedding this Saturday, and I went to A Pea In the Pod and found they had a lot of choices. I also used motherhood or destination maternity for all the baby & wedding showers I have to go to.

@AstoriaK: Thanks for the suggestion on asos! I just ordered some clothes from here!

@AstoriaK: I have a bunch of stuff saved from Asos. They are usually my go to shop but the dresses they currently have are not dressy enough. I am buying the yellow flowing dress for a shower though. 🙂 And just a heads up that Topshop has maternity as well.
Thanks for the suggestions! I guess my issue is that everything looks very matronly and not at all me. A friend did suggest heading over to Rent The Runway where they have a “bump friendly” section. I could not find it but just typed bump friendly in the search and a whole bunch of dresses popped up that could work. Including this gorgeous Halston which I may have to use for one of the weddings.

@baletrina: Ahhhh! I was just talking about the bump friendly filter on Rent The Runway for a friend of mine. I wish I had remembered to suggest that for you. That Halston is gorgeous.

I’d try to get something on sale/clearance from Pea in a Pod. I bought an amazing dress from them that I honestly would wear now not pregnant too. I got a great deal on it at Destination Maternity.
