My fiance and I are thinking about eloping in California. Does anyone have suggestions on where to go? It will be the 2 of us or we might have our family…no more than 8 people including us.

I just visited Santa Barbara and found it to be quite charming. You could do a court house type ceremony and then eat at one of the MANY cute restaurants or cafes overlooking the ocean. There’s also a great hotel called Montecito Inn.
Good luck!
South Lake Tahoe
napa is also a great place for eloping! beautiful scenery and great food everywhere.
San Francisco. I’m partial because that where we got engaged but theres so much to do and its such a romantic city :e)
I second Santa Barbara. We went there a few years back and fell in love with the area. Besides the courthouse, there are great spots on or overlooking the beach and a few companies that offer the typical "elopement" packages that might help you plan if you don’t want to do much yourself.
Let me know if you need any suggestions!
Caliwed…I would love some suggestions!
I’m all ears!
If you’re going to get married at City Hall, I hear San Francisco’s is beautiful. I also agree with TallBride that there’s tons to do in SF, lots of which is free and easy to arrange (Golden Gate Park, Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, etc.). Plus, we’ve always been able to get phenomenal deals on great hotel rooms in SF through Priceline.
City Hall in SF is beautiful, all of SF Bay area is amazing to really just run away to.
Check out this wedding that was done by my wedding photographer.

I don’t know if they eloped but from the looks of it, it was a small intimate wedding.
Like others have said SF city hall is gorgeous.
Silvina & Keri’s Wedding (City Hall, San Francisco)
Emily & Jennifer’s Marriage & Family Portraits (City Hall & Golden Gate Park)
I’m completely biased as we had our ceremony and reception at SF City Hall. It really is breathtaking in there and there is a lot to do in the area (the city itself and the Greater Bay Area) following or before the elopement! If you are not really an indoor girl, another great place is Montery or Carmel.
We had our civil ceremony here before our big party in the same place on the same day 2 years earlier..Right on the rotunda steps. If you make the earliest appointment for a civil ceremony, you can definitely snag that spot since it is generally quiet there in the morning. Here are some pics of the inside!
