I’m currently looking into the possibility of mermaid/trumpet crinolines for my dress. Does anyone have any suggestions for affordable ones I can find online? I am thinking of trying one from David’s Bridal. Not 100% sure yet what I’m looking for or if I want to have the poof in my dress, so if anyone has the knowledge of a place that takes returns, that would be a great added benefit! Thanks in advance!

why not go try some on – figure out what looks good and try some online searching?
i bought Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses from here and they came really quickly and were nice quality so i dont know how you could go wrong with a crinoline and they are pretty cheap – i dont know the return policies, and it comes from china so thats why i suggested trying on some and then figuring out what you need and trying to find it somewhere else.

Davids bridal fit and flare crinoline is seriously awesome! Its lined on the inside and had a nice smooth lining on the top as well so the tulle never touches your skin or the dress. I ended up adding one more layer of tulle to mine because I wanted so extra poof but it is really a great crinoline for mermaid gowns

I would bring your dress to DB and try it with one of theirs. If you like it, buy it or look on bestbridalprices. Odds are, you aren’t going to be able to get a full refund no matter where you order it from.

I just bought the fit and flare from David’s Bridal for $49.99. I tried to find one used but had no luck (and I’m impatient, so I bought it new). Everything the above poster said is true – it holds you in (almost like spanx), goes clear up to below your chest, and also has the lining to protect your skin from the scratchiness of the tulle.
I didn’t try any others on but I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews on others. The others either tied at the waist or had an elastic waistband, and I didn’t want all that bunchiness under my otherwise tight-fitting dress. I also worried with the ones that tied that they would untie.

Thanks girls! This is really helpful. I’m being a little lazy at this point, just overwhelmed from the wedding and it would be really nice not to have to take my dress into a store to try it on. I know, I know, it has its consequences – but it’s always nicer to romp around at home for as long as I need to test stuff out. Thanks again!

@bells: I just wanted to say Thanks! Your comment made me confident about just ordering the DB crinoline online (along with the flawless reviews on their website). At the end of the day, it’s $50, if I don’t like it, I’m sure I can find some other bee who does! 🙂

@pengoala:
I bought mine here:

I was really happy with how soon it arrived and how great the crinoline is. (I got the extra full 3 tiered mermaid). It came in a lace bag free.

Not sure where you live, but a lot of the local lingerie stores in my area (Texas) carry mermaid crinoline, and they’ll gladly let you try them on with your gown! Some of them have better return policies than DB too.
EDIT: Oh dur! You got the DB one, haha! My friend loves her crinoline from there. 🙂

@BruinBee: Cool, thanks for the suggestion. I’ll keep it in mind if DB’s doesn’t work for me.
@techie: Ooh, if DB’s isn’t to my liking, I’ll try lingerie stores. That sounds like a GREAT idea! 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion!
